The Norwegian picks are all a must, nice to see Behexen and Lurker of Chalice (both great, for me they might not be in consideration for an all-time top 10 though) Henbane is a masterpiece, so is that Paysage. Despite the popularity, that Ruins of Beverast is the one I'm least familiar with

A black metal album that fits snuggly within the confines of the genre while also maintaining a level of replayability is a very desirable quality for me when it comes to seeking out new BM. It's also the reason why I've sort of moved away from it in recent years. Agalloch is probably my go-to example for the type of black metal that exemplifies those qualities, but other bands like Spectral Wound and Mgla tend to hit the right kind of notes for me too. But I've learned that I have to be in a very specific mood or headspace to want to listen to them. Five or six years ago and I would have told you that black metal dominated my listening habits.
