Indecision can only be an excuse for so long. Help us continue it! Let us help! Crowdfund. Security. At the very least, fix the user sign up. If you don't want this anymore, hand it off to someone who truly cares. It's like, do you really want your creation that has many passionate followers die?

But I can afford to be grumpy about the situation every once in a while. Besides, old users moving on wouldn't have been so much of an issue if new people could register
Aids 07.22.26	I've said it before and I'll say it again (as I'm sure other people often do as well). The fact that new users cannot sign up is an absolute non-starter. The site has 0 chance of getting anywhere close to how it used to be if new users cannot sign up. I understand that the problem has something to do with security and blah blah but until that is fixed, there is no point discussing anything else. It's really upsetting that mx is holding on to this site and refuses to give anyone with the time and desire to try to fix this issue any power. I don't know the guy so I don't know why he's holding on to this site when he clearly doesn't care about it anymore, but it's really, really frustrating. tldr: we need to seize the means of production! Late stage capitalism is upon us.
Futures 07.22.26	nobody is holding anybody hostage here, just leave if all you have are complaints or questions of why the site is the way it is, because everyone knows the answers by now. you’re not changing anyone’s mind or forcing some kind of change. going in these negative circles just isn’t helpful to anyone because we have said time and time again we can’t do anything without mx. that is the reality. it is what it is, take it or leave it. there are no true sput alternatives, so i will be here until the wheels fall off. sure it has its major issues but at the end of the day the userbase makes sput what it is, so be the change you want to see. and enjoy it while it’s still around.

trilo 07.22.26	i've thrown my hat into the ring a few times on the infinitesimally small chance mx changes his mind. sucks because with how good AI tools are these days i'm confident claude code could rip through the codebase and diagnose the issues pretty quickly. can't imagine it's a huge effort. oh well i will be ready if called upon!
