cloak's recent digs
Some recent discoveries that I'm enjoying. No particular order. |
| 1 | | Crematory Believe
German gothic metal band that started out playing death metal, not sure how the rest of this band's discography compares to this but I'm liking this a lot. |
| 2 | | Hybernoid The Last Day Begins?
Really unique gem of an album that blends death/doom with shoegaze. Super ahead of its time and surprisingly under the radar even on here. |
| 3 | | Trance To The Sun Atrocious Virgin
Really left-field gothic/ethereal wave that sounds kinda warped. Cool as hell though |
| 4 | | Peeping Tom Peeping Tom
One of Patton's many projects, I was aware of this one but never listened to it before. Pretty cool stuff, We're Not Alone is a banger |
| 5 | | LizZard Venus
Saw this band supporting The Gathering. Nice prog/alt shit reminiscent of Karnivool |
| 6 | | Crown Lands Apocalypse
Retro rock that isn't awful, clearly very inspired by Rush but has some cool spins to that old-school prog sound. |
| 7 | | T-Ride T-Ride
Eric Valentine's band before he went into production. Got praise from Joe Satriani back in the day from what I understand. Very Van Halen-esque but still with its own identity. |
| 8 | | The Shizit Soundtrack For The Revolution
JP Anderson's project before he started Rabbit Junk. Angry anarchistic digital hardcore/industrial metal that goes hard. Great music to listen to whilst despairing at the state of the world. |
| 9 | | Soup (NOR) Visions
Very spaced-out Norwegian post rock that takes a lot of cues from bands like Porcupine Tree and Motorpsycho. Nice. |
| 10 | | Jakob Sines
Very well-written instrumental post-metal that helped me write quite a few essays for my MSc this year. |
| 11 | | The Twilight Sad It's The Long Goodbye
New Order-esque post punk that I'm looking forward to seeing live this summer! |
