My Best of 2026 (So Far)
A list of what I'm finding the best releases of 2026 so far (in no particular order) |
| 1 | | American Football American Football (LP4)
Beautiful and so emotional. Time will tell, but this is probably their best album (even better than LP1). It's really well realized, with beautiful soundscapes and the drumming is such a highlight. |
| 2 | | Gorillaz The Mountain
It's on par with The Plastic Beach and easily enters the pantheon of incredible Gorillaz records. I didn't think that Albarn & co. would ever reach these highs with Gorillaz again. |
| 3 | | Charli XCX Wuthering Heights
The movie is so incredibly bad that it's a shame that this is attached to it. Couldn't be more of a departure after brat. Love the ideas and experimentation in it. |
| 4 | | Raye This Music May Contain Hope
Would benefit heavily from some editing, but this has so many incredible and memorable moments. Would love to see Raye tackle a James Bond opening song. |
| 5 | | Manchester Orchestra Union Chapel (London, England)
Even without the terrible and devastating happenings with the band this would be a beautiful recording and touching renditions of their songs, but it gets a whole new layer with all the recent events. |
| 6 | | Tigers Jaw Lost on You
Currently my most streamed record of 2026. May Am Foot's is the only one that came as close as resonating with me this year. Catchy and memorable songs; concise as hell. I wasn't a TJ fan before this, but they managed to evangelise me with Lost on You |
| 7 | | Basement Wired
Let's see if by the end of the year this will manage to stay relevant and a highlight for me, but right now i'm having a lot of fun with this record. |
| 8 | | Hammock The Second Coming Was A Moonrise
Digesting this a lot and I keep finding beautiful moments throughout with each new spin. Definitely one of their best in a while. |
