05.14.26 | Too lazy to do a review (i think) but wanted to bring this band to people's attention. still hyped af to see them but ughhhh album is aight i guess. production is inconsitent. Adeline and Promise sound perfect, most else feels so unnecessarily washed out. Perfect View is my SOTY.
they also put out some bonus tracks that are all really solid. not as good as their best but a pretty strong step up from a lot of this.
it's growing a bit? but idk...not my thing. curious how the rest of yall would feel and of course about similar experiences with album hype. |

05.14.26 | I thought Coheed and Cambria was a pop-punk band for like ten years based off of A Favor House Atlantic and The Suffering until I actually listened to their albums and discovered that they are a rather boring progressive rock band who releases their only accessible songs as singles. |

05.14.26 | Oh man, this is an oddly specific one but I remember when Sleeping With Sirens announced Madness, Kellin Quinn had said something in an interview about how heavy it is, and they released 'Kick Me' as the lead single. Only to find out that was like, one of the only 2-3 remotely heavy songs on the album.
I seem to remember Of Mice and Men doing something similar with Cold World. |
Meborphus
05.14.26 | Veil of Maya releasing Phoenix as the only single for Matriarch bc it's the only one that didn't feature any clean vocals. They had never used clean vocals up until that album, which is candy compared to their older stuff. |

05.14.26 | I feel like this list could embody most metalcore albums released between 2010-2016. Bands were great at releasing their best songs as singles and then the rest of the record is just boring trash. Plat mentioned OM&M and SWS who are both great offenders along with Crown the Empire (Retrograde), The Word Alive (Violent Noise), and unfortunately I'll mention Falling in Reverse's first record where the few singles were all solid and then the album was just a fart. |
Brabiz
05.14.26 | Loss of Life by MGMT for sure. Those singles had me in a death grip, and I ended up straight up not liking the album |
CaliggyJack
05.14.26 | Graceland by Paul Simon is still an amazing album but holy shit You Can Call Me Al gives a completely different impression than the rest of the album lol |

05.14.26 | sparks on depression cherry |

05.14.26 | Another one that I think kinda fits is 'Bloom Baby Bloom' off the newest Wolf Alice. Didn't dislike the album or anything (actually enjoyed it quite a bit) but there really isn't anything else on the album in the same style. |

05.14.26 | Oh, quite a few times. Metallica's singles off 72S were rock solid and the album turned out to be a slog. Those off TGD's Explosions were nothing spectacular, but the other material only doubled down on the sense of boredom. When Lacuna Coil released Tight Rope XX I was hyped as shit and then the album fell flat on its face. At least we have some cool singles around as a result. |

05.14.26 | finding it hard to think of other ones atm. AFI - Bodies could work but i feel like that album is just all over the place and the first 2 were def the best imo
i like how this topic can apply to either quality or genre.
can also be more specific, like Speak With The Dead being the first single for Draw Down The Moon |

05.14.26 | A great example of this is Tirzahâs Colourgrade, which i was super excited for after loving her debut and finding all four of the singles to be super hypnotic and intriguing. Turns out she decided to take a more experimental, atmospheric and largely beatless approach which was not at all what the singles were indicating. |
