Gyromania 05.04.26	First season is best by far, but 2 and 3 are also pretty solid. Season 4 is a total embarrassment, and 5 has been marginally better so far. Really sorry to hear you're going through this, man. I can't even imagine how hard this must be.

It’s a STEEP fall off from there tho. Season 4 is just downright awful, and 5 is marginally better but ultimately pretty weak.

DarkSideOfLucca 05.22.26	Agreed that show peaked in season 1, had one of the most promising starts ever - season 2 MOSTLY continued that trend with some hickups, season 3 had some of the best highs but ultimately irritating in that there were no consequences at the end of the season. No one major died like Maeve? Soldier Boy just goes back into freezing, everything goes back to where they started and the shock humor was just starting to get in the way of the actual show. Season 4 totally tanked whatever gas was in the tank for this show, but I watched every single week in hopes it would get better but holy fuck what a complete waste of my time. Season 5 was BAFFLING with how they decided to spend their time this entire season. I actually weirdly don't hate the finale at all, I am just so confused why they spent literally an entire season just twirling their thumbs and meandering into random bullshit for 7 hours before we got there. And yeah, Starlight doesn't look great in season 4.

But the finale I think is getting too much hate - like yeah it's not perfect but people are comparing it to GoT's finale and I think that's just absurd.

Maeve surviving that midair explosion and then falling a thousand or so feet and walking away unscathed was incredibly lol. Also, without spoiling it for Storm, I've gotta say... Soldier Boy's arc is genuinely awful and they wasted any potential that character had with season 5. Embarrassing character writing. Sister Sage has to be one of the worst characters I've seen in a show in recent memory. Prime example of a stupid person trying to write a smart character. But really it was the aimlessness of it all, like you said, and the overly gratuitous nature of the show. Contrived shock value for the sake of it. Every episode becomes more depraved and it just doesn't service the plot in any meaningful way.

One thing I can say for The Boys finale is that they didn’t literally take every single character and layup of a plot line and stomp it into where it’s totally unrecognizable. Ending of game of thrones is the worst thing that’s ever happened to me in anything media related, no exaggeration - I can rant about game of thrones for like several text books in a row Not even close to being as disappointing as that show, hopefully nothing will be ever again lol

I'm in the same boat as you where I could write an entire essay on how bad that final episode was. I could break it down frame for frame. There is no worse conclusion to any show that I've watched, even ones that have been cancelled mid-season and had to wrap up several dangling plot threads in the span of an episode or two.

It was my understanding that her appearance was the result of being pressured into getting plastic surgery. 2) Regardless of the reason for her appearance, it’s one thing to make note of it and another thing entirely to post hateful memes and videos dumping on her as some have. Saying she looked rough in season 4 is just a baseline reaction that I’m pretty sure 99% of people thought to themselves.

Homelander spends half the show publicly condemning and scapegoating Starlight as the embodiment of everything wrong with America, so I’m pretty sure his comment was clearly playing off that dynamic. I think some people tend to overextend that label to the point where any negative comment about a woman’s appearance becomes ‘misogyny’ by default, but it’s kind of wild to casually accuse someone of misogyny over such innocuous comments imo.

Storm In A Teacup 05.30.26	Wow wow wow i finished it. I cried when frenchie died. I was so pumped for the white house fight. The ending was perfect. I cried when kimiko was im france with the dog they wantef and thought heavily about my life right now in relation. 10/10 ending. Couldnt have been better really but its super fucked up butcher finally flipped on his own bullshit only for hughie to kill him. So sad. Homelander and Deep the way they both went out was so awesome and justified. Deep was like the main bad guy to me the whole series and i usually just felt bad for homelander.
