| Favourite Movies!!! ... Uh, I Mean Shuffle.
My top 10 films as of this moment. I'm almost positive it will change by the time my film class is done this year. Plus there are a few I still really need to see. Trainspottind (I've seen like the middle section) and the Dead Pool, cause I love Danny Boyle's other stuff. And heeeere we go! | | 1 | James Ehnes/Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Korngold Violin Concerto in D, Op. 35 - I - Moderato
Dr. Strangelove - Only Stanley Kubrick can make a film about the end of the world and make it truly one of the greatest black comedies ever. | | 2 | Sufjan Stevens The Transfiguration
La Grande Illusion - A new one to me. I got it for Christmas after seeing it in Film Class. Jean Renoir is a genious, we're suppose to watch Rules of the Game in class, but the damn projector broke. Apparently it rivals this for his greatest work. | | 3 | Dave Holland Bedouin Trail
Young Frankenstein - This one just edges out Blazing Saddles as Mel Brook's best work. Spoof of Frankenstein films of course, hilarity ensues. | | 4 | Spoon Anything You Want
Children of Men - Alfonso Cuaron's creepily plausible future world (at least aesthetically) should've won best picture. | | 5 | Jaco Pastorious Big Band Killing Me Softly
The Bicycle Thieves - Saddest Movie Ever | | 6 | Led Zeppelin When the Levee Breaks
The Godfather | | 7 | Radiohead Dollars & Cents
A Clockwork Orange | | 8 | Godspeed You! Black Emperor Motherfucker=redeemer pt. 2
Full Metal Jacket | | 9 | Muse Starlight
Citizen Kane | | 10 | Interpol Say Hello to the Angels
Night of the Living Dead | |

01.11.09 | I prefer Blazing Saddles! | tombits
01.11.09 | I'll just throw in my uneducated opinion and say this list needs more Pan's Labyrinth. | fireaboveicebelow
01.11.09 | good list moviewise and when the levee breaks rules | ninjuice
01.11.09 | Young Frankenstein should be replaced by The Shining.
possibly the best Kubrick film. my favorite, at least. | Asiatic667
01.11.09 | Don't forget about Kubricks other classic, 2001:A SPACE ODDYSSEY.
That movie is so epic and mindbending, it will never be fully appreciated for its genius | Jim
01.11.09 | i agree with tombits' sentiment
and children of men ftmfw | badtaste
01.11.09 | lol at your reasons fading away...

01.11.09 | 4, 7, 8 are great movies

01.11.09 | yeah, Kubrick is a legend. | Electric City
01.11.09 | tombits is right yeah | Chewie
01.11.09 | Children Of Men's awesome | thebhoy
01.11.09 | Pan's Labyrinth and 2001 are both films that could have got my top 10. They are basically tied for 10th with Night of the Living Dead. The previous two are FAR better films, but I'm a sucker for a zombie movie and George Romero's first is a classic.
IAmInsect, I think you have to really study Citizen Kane to understand why it's considered the greatest (American) film of all time. Just the shear level of innovation throughout the film (particularly the camera work), the odd narrative arc the amazing imagery.
ninjuice, not a huge shining fan, I find it's one of the weaker Kubrick efforts (which means it's still great :P) | thebhoy
01.11.09 | ps. Also through On the Waterfront into the 4-way tie for 10th. | Yotimi
01.13.09 | Good movies. Definitely do need to study Citizen Kane to realize the brilliance. Kubrick rules. What about Lynch? Or maybe Seven Samarai (spelling?)? |
