jrlikestodance 03.22.26	@Demon I find those artists all are part of the face of Sput discussion around electronic music. Much more than Stimming but maybe thats my personal biases coming into play. I also definitely push more “functional” dance music compared to most of the user base too
Demon of the Fall 03.22.26	Sorry, I think my point was that naming the most popular music in a certain genre / field / whatever across the internet isn’t ‘Sputcore’ to me. Some of these artists were all over the internet and even made their way into wider consciousness My definition is different. It’s what is / was unique to Sput. All those artists certainly qualify under ‘most discussed’ tho, for sure.

Definitely some bands/albums that are disproportionately represented on here, but also some that are just essential to the community's DNA, regardless of their reception at large. I mean Converge, Opeth, Thrice, etc are all very well respected outside of this site.

Demon of the Fall 03.22.26	I will concede where bands like Converge and Neurosis (to use current examples) are concerned, because even though their popularity extends beyond Sput (and always has, by experience) I cannot deny it’s disproportionate lol

The ongoing narrative that SNW is THE Deftones #1 album--an opinion I've seen expressed repeatedly on these boards throughout the years, and nowhere else--IS Sputcore to a tee. Seen similar Sput-centric campaigns for AWLWLB opposed to 'Jane Doe' for Converge.

My friend who knew the band showed them to me in 2006 and by the time Darkness and Never Born came out, they were HUGE on Sputnik which I’ve always thought was really cool bc they’re unfortunately so underground and will probably remain there
