Let's Talk About Ulcerate and Songwriting

Hello! I haven’t seen any discourse around this anywhere online, and a lot of folks here seem to like this band, so I thought I’d ask: what are some of the motifs and lines you’ve noticed that are developed across the runtime of Cutting the Throat of God? Stare did this in ways that were much easier for me to spot, and I think that’s partly to do with its structure: the title track is kind of the “peak” that establishes several of the themes/motifs, and then the later tracks refract or distort them in different chunks. I initially dismissed Throat as just being Stare 2: Stare Harder, but a recent trip back through it has revealed that it’s a lot more subtle about the ways it develops ideas. A few examples I’ve been able to find:
1Ulcerate
Cutting the Throat of God

The shuffle pattern: 3:54 of “Ashen Hearts”, 0:34 of Transfiguration, and 5:03 of Death. The pattern speeds up over the course of the album, but also fractures with each successive iteration. Neat!
2Ulcerate
Cutting the Throat of God

The kick pattern at 1:36 of “Dawn” and the opening of “Wounds” (joke not intended) are the same, with the melodic lines fitting over them differently.
3Ulcerate
Cutting the Throat of God

The first high melody of “Death” is echoed at 0:20 of “Throat”, and then the track further distorts it at 1:17.
4Ulcerate
Cutting the Throat of God

There are a few more tentative ones, but I’d like to hear from you all! What transposed themes or ideas have you noticed across the album?
