| Ashes of the Wake ranked
Lamb of God have rightfully taken over Sputnik this week. This is their best album, and this is the songs on it ranqued. | | 11 | Lamb of God Break You
The least interesting song by a decent margin. I almost don't like it. | | 10 | What I've Become
Honestly these bottom three could interchange depending on my mood at any given time, and while this song has some cool parts, it just doesn't hit the same as the upper half of the album. But it IS better than "Break You", so congratulations. | | 9 | Omerta
What keeps this above the bottom two is although I find it dragging and I think I just have never been over the moon over the execution of it, the change of pace itself is fine. But it picks up towards the end. | | 8 | Ashes of the Wake
This instrumental title track almost throws a wrench in the works, because it's not the worst, but is a little long. Luckily it jams and has a couple headbanging sections. And although I've always agreed with the message behind this song and album, as a song I'm not that into playing recordings or spoken word type stuff. | | 7 | One Gun
The start of this song has always kept me away from it more often than not. Like the first 45 seconds just do nothing for me. It gets better though, and the "they'll hallow your name for your sacrifice" parts are hard. We get a solo and then a like chopped and screwed outro, making it more palatable than its predecessors (of the list). | | 6 | The Faded Line
Now we're getting to the real shit. This is bottom of the top tier, I think the riffing is kinda annoying. But we get one of those signature Chris Adler tom grooves and the rest of the song is much better than how it starts. That midde section, the guitar harmony towards the end, and a good performance by Randy throughout. | | 5 | Now You've Got Something to Die For
This song is a Chris Adler special for me, a good showcase of everything you want from him. The song is a staple of their concerts, and the second half of the song gets all sorts of grooves going. | | 4 | Blood of the Scribe
I've always felt this song is underappreciated. It gets this high despite the spoken word stuff in large part because the last minute of the song, which is heavy as hell and all the performances are so good. The song also contains one of Randy's best long, high pitched screams entering a 16th note groove that really sets it off. | | 3 | Remorse Is for the Dead
This song has to be severely underrated, I don't ever hear its mention when talking LoG. This has always been one of my favorites of theirs. Chill intro, extreme jamming leading into that nasty scream before the toms breakdown. Then the last couple minutes are just a pure invitation for headbanging. | | 2 | Hourglass
Some of their best riffing. This song has it all: it's fast, it grooves hard in some sections, fun instrumental breaks, and some of Randy's best lyrics. In my short time in college I wrote a paper using this song, we were supposed to relate a piece of media to our own life. I misinterpreted the song cuz I was young, dumb, and full of something. Then I grew up and was like oh, this song is even better than I realized. "You finally made it home, draped in the flag that you fell for" bars | | 1 | Laid to Rest
Ah, the easiest of all possible picks. This is, however, the ideal of a LoG song for me. Excellent riffing, signature Chris and Randy performances, good for crowd participation, classic breakdown, and always the nostalgia of being a lot of people's introduction to the band. | |

03.14.26 | Nice to see some love for Blood of the Scribe one of my favorite "deeper" cuts from them. Agreed with the pick for 1 also, it's just everything you'd want from an LoG song. Seeing them playing this in full at Red Rocks and Randy hitting all the vocal notes even at high altitude was insane | botb
03.14.26 | 5 is 1 for me, one of the hardest breakdowns | Josh D.
03.14.26 | I grew up playing drums, so I was always hooked by "Blood of the Scribe". Lots of good parts to play along to. | DominionMM1

03.16.26 | "Watching those drum convention videos of Chris playing songs off this with Willie"
Hell yeah. Loved Adler's playthroughs of this record. So tight, so clean. Blood of the Scribe and The Faded Line are quintessential LoG songs. Break You is fun as fuck.
