24 Bands I'd Love Comebacks From

Some bands are touring but haven't released anything new in some time. Others are on hiatus, perhaps are busy tinkering away on something, or a few even halted activity overnight. Let's get into it. Listed alphabetically
1Agent Fresco
Destrier

They're pretty high up on ArcTanGent, this feels like the year for LP 3
2Altar of Plagues
Teethed Glory and Injury

I don't expect James Kelly to want an AoP return ever, but imagine what they'd sound like in 2026?
3Black Peaks
Statues

None of Will's post-Black Peaks projects have stood out to me like this band's catalog. Side note: with Arcane Roots back I feel like another prominent return from the UK 2010s rock/metal crop of exciting new bands feels possible
4Dragged Into Sunlight
Hatred For Mankind

Anything they'd make would be compared to Hatred For Mankind, but I think the biggest obstacle would be figuring out how to meld their lofi recording style with the viscerality of live shows, namely their mind-melting Damnation Fest 2024 full album performance
5Free Refills
raw steak black coffee

Pretty sure this project is done, but their debut always felt like a more electronic approach to Sleigh Bells and that was pretty cool. I haven't heard the releases after beyond a couple songs & they didn't do much for me
6Gatherers
" ( mutilator. ) "

I spoke more on this in their album thread, but am immensely excited for the new band - stay tuned!
7Glassjaw
Worship and Tribute

I'd love a new album this decade!
8Harvey Milk
Courtesy and Good Will Toward Men

Unlikely but would be such a cool surprise
9Have a Nice Life
Deathconsciousness

Similarly to other bands here, HANL won't avoid Deathconsciousness looming over their discography, but with so many other gems across Voids and the studio albums and further, it woud be nice for a new release. It would feel too soon I think to rely on their back catalog for x-amount years more of touring.
10Hop Along
Get Disowned

Stoked to hear Francis Quinlan turn up on anything though
11IDYLLS
Prayer for Terrene

I mentioned Craning in this album thread, whose debut it out now! Check it out, pretty great but I'll mention I don't believe the band has an IDYLLS member anymore. I was excited to see what would come after The Barn, but between the experimental post-punk of that one, the grinding violence of Prayer, and Farewell All Joy's mathcore stylings, I definitely think they covered A TON of ground pretty quickly. Weirdly I feel like Portrayal of Guilt carries the same ethos of experimentation, but has gone even further and that helps fill the void a bit
12letlive.
Fake History

letlive. > Pressure Cracks > FEVER 333
13Loathe (UK)
I Let It In And It Took Everything

C'mon lads!
14Matchbook Romance
Voices

I liked Voices and the more brooding dark atmosphere to it, but don't feel confident a third album 21 years later WOULDN'T avoid the modern pop punk tropes. Like I have no clue. Side note: their drummer Aaron is a big marketing exec at RCA - he's also SUCH a forward thinking player
15My Chemical Romance
Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (Deluxe)

I am manifesting The Paper Kingdom in 2026
16O'Brother
Garden Window

Anything that sounds like Garden Window would absolutely level me. The exact middle point of Jeff Buckley and classic Neurosis.
17Palm Reader
Sleepless

Another band that broke up recently, but I don't feel like the new project/supergroup VOWER meets the sum of its parts - would be thrilled to see Palm Reader come back - but can't imagine their final 7-person touring unit was sustainable at the bands size
18Seahaven
Halo of Hurt

I hope they continue the route from the main Halo album & less of the Apartment/Lost (or K Soto) sound
19Shin Guard
2020

Shin Guard >>>>>>>>> Hazing Over. Has to include Alex on guitar.
20The Chariot
Long Live

'68 is ready to end in my opinion. Band feels like its ran its course. Or, Josh Scogin could join Will from Black Peaks on the short list of vocalists who would destroy in Better Lovers (I do not like this band name haha) following Greg's split
21The Paper Chase
Hide the Kitchen Knives

John Congleton is BUSY. BUT. We need a part 2 to that final album!
22Vein.fm
Errorzone

I dream of a world Vein and Fleshwater can both be active at once. No clue what a post-This World album would sound like, but if they have that exact same lineup I could see them genuinely releasing a landmark release in the 2020s
23Vexes
Imagine What We Could Destroy / If Only Given Time

Hoping next release isn't a triple album, would love to see what they could do in a 35-40 minute format
24White Ward
False Light

Can't wait for their return - such a stunning band!
