brandaao's best of 2025
The list of my favorite records from this year. |
| 15 | | Viagra Boys Viagr Aboys
Super fun and lean record. |
| 14 | | Turnstile Never Enough
Even though it sounds dangerously similar to Glow On I can still feel the energy from them. Next record will be very important to determine their future and longevity. |
| 13 | | Thrice Horizons/West
Given my reception to the singles, I was surprised by how much I ended up digging this after the release. Sowing's East/West tracklist suggestion ended up elevating this even more for me. |
| 12 | | Miley Cyrus Something Beautiful
Very interesting record. Lots of highlights. |
| 11 | | Nine Inch Nails Tron: Ares OST
Top tier Trent and Atticus OST, too bad the movie's so mid. |
| 10 | | Motion City Soundtrack The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World
I was definitely surprised with this one. So much energy and charm. Hadn't dug a MCS record this much since Even if It Kills Me |
| 9 | | La Dispute No One Was Driving the Car
Love the raw emotions in this one. |
| 8 | | The Callous Daoboys I Don't Want to See You in Heaven
What a crazy and fun ride. |
| 7 | | Chevelle Bright as Blasphemy
Sticks so close to their strengths that I was surprised by how much I ended up engaging with this one, given I barely enjoyed NIRATIAS |
| 6 | | King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Phantom Island
There's so much mid stuff to parse in King Gizz's discography, but their standout albums are incredible, and this one is no different. |
| 5 | | Yeule Evangelic Girl is a Gun
Just love the vibes on this. |
| 4 | | Rosalia Lux
It's a spectacle. |
| 3 | | Bon Iver SABLE, fABLE
Love how it blends his different eras on this one. Ended up resonating a lot with me through some though times in my life. |
| 2 | | BRUIT The Age Of Ephemerality
These guys are just incredible. Doesn't reinvent the wheel on a tired genre, but they do it so well that it sounds and feels fresh. Listen loud and get immersed in these sounds. |
| 1 | | Hayley Williams Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party
She's so at the top of her game here. Almost all of the tracks are incredible. It's a lot, but it's also pretty diverse. And the add on tracks that she released later only managed to make this stronger. Also, like Bon Iver's new album, it came at a specific and difficult time in my life that I just connected deeply with the songs. |
