Iconic 7th Albums
Not all bands make it this far. And fewer bands manage to stay good. And even fewer bands put out an album later that ranks as high as their classic albums of their early years. Here are some of my favourite 7th albums of bands in no particular order. Have fun! |
| 1 | | Iron Maiden Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
My favourite Iron Maiden album and their best in my opinion even after so many classics. A very special album for me. Goosepumps |
| 2 | | Deftones Koi No Yokan
Such a great late classic by Deftones that is a fan favourite for a reason. Experimental, magical, dreamy, but still accessible and very satisfying. |
| 3 | | Opeth Damnation
The "quiet" album of Opeth's death metal/classic era. Has a very distinct "rainy day" atmosphere and is a very unique album. Beautifully written acoustic songs. |
| 4 | | Depeche Mode Violator
Now this is easy. This is Depeche Mode's most succesfull one I think. Even though Enjoy the silence is on here, all the other tracks are just as solid as this one |
| 5 | | Radiohead In Rainbows
Radiohead is known for putting out excellent albums but this one is special because it's very distinct in their discography because it has a very bright even playful sound in contrast to their other work. A refreshing entry starting a new era for Radiohead. |
| 6 | | Green Day American Idiot
I don't think I have to say that much here. So many hit songs (that are also good!) are on there. Jesus of Suburbia is my favourite Green Day track. Fun album |
| 7 | | Architects All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us
A very underrated band. Every song on here is amazin. Also one of the best album artworks that fit the atmosphere of the album perfectly |
| 8 | | Swans White Light From the Mouth of Infinity
Another underrated gem. This might be the best album by Swans. Highly recommend it if you haven't listened to this one yet. Also the most depressing album I have ever listened to but weirdly also fun at the same time. |
| 9 | | Death The Sound of Perseverance
This is the peak of Death's progressive death metal experimentation and also the final album, before Chuck Schuldiners tragic death. Might be their best album. Incredible instrumentation and songwriting. |
| 10 | | Dream Theater Train of Thought
Maybe not a well known as Images & Dreams or Octavarium but definitely one of their best. Every song on here could be considered the best Dream Theater song, so I think that says enough. In the name of god is a hidden gem. |
