| | 7 underrated albums | | 1 | | The Chameleons Strange Times
A post rock masterpiece from start to finish. Especially their best song ever made Swamp Thing. | | 2 | | Cocteau Twins Victorialand
a unrecognised pioneer in ethereal music. Less pop centric then what we are used from them but very succesful at creating a antartic soundscape. | | 3 | | Bibio Ambivalence Avenue
An eclectic mix of lo-fi folk, instrumental hip hop and electronic music. In the late 2000's there where a bunch of indie electronic artists sprouting but Bibio stood out by being more creative and artistic then most.
While at the time critically loved, time has proven this record as being quite influential to the modern soundscape. | | 4 | | Midlake The Trials of Van Occupanther
This one seems to be forgotten nowadays.
The cover of this album is what got me. i was interested and blind bought it.
Me already being into Fleet Foxes i was very much into it.
This album is able to transport you into a forest 500 years ago. First song on the album, Roscoe is all you need to get on board. | | 5 | | Death Cab for Cutie The Photo Album
While most people will talk about Transatlanticism and The Photo Album when talking about Death Cab, the Photo Album is the more raw big brother. it shows it's teeth sometimes but creates a similar emotional ride. | | 6 | | Suede Dog Man Star
When talking about Suede, most people will mention how they started britpop and stop there.
but their real masterpiece came when all eyes where already on Oasis and Blur.
Dog Man Star is everything you want from an 90's alt rock masterpiece. angst, catchy songs and a 9 minute epic. | | 7 | | Hum Downward Is Heavenward
A painfully underrated band when they where in the 90's. creating some amazing space rock songs with a wall of sound. By the time this came out people where more into Nu metal then shoegazy space rock but that doesn't take away that this album was a true underrated classic. | |

10.21.25 | These all have high averages with many votes, idk how they're underrated tbh lol. | RVAHC13
10.21.25 | To be fair when you’re comparing 5 to many of their other albums it doesn’t get brought up as much when discussing which is their best (I actually enjoy it better than Plans by a sizable margin)
7 could’ve been considered underrated at one time until it got swept up in the public’s recent grunge gaze obsession | platttt
10.21.25 | downward is heavenward is thrilling | Basman
10.21.25 | @ Hawks Underrated - Rated, valued, or esteemed too low.
so while it may seem critically loved in your eyes, in my opinion it is not to the degree it deserves. | Ladron93
10.22.25 | isn't The Chameleons a post-punk band than "post rock band"? I may have to hear that 80s album.
I found Victorialand as "drumless album" respectfully. I think they produced a nice ethereal vibe that it sounds it could belong to a dark soundtrack of the movie. | Hawks
