my introduction to the band. didn’t like this very much at first but ended up growing on me a fair bit. Considering how scarce german melodeath bands seem to be (perhaps I just haven’t dug enough), makes this even cooler.

@brickhed: Man Quest Master dude has a really cool track record. I’d recommend checking Gloimy Reflections perhaps if you haven’t already. Butt riffs without the eggs
Man I was really big into funeral doom for like 2 years when I was a teenager and now it just really doesn’t appeal to me unless it’s an absolute masterpiece. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the new Evoken when it drops.
DEATH-DOOM, on the other hand, is the most oversaturated and bloated subgenre in metal and it sucks because 1 out of every 3 bands does it any justice. It’s sooooo easy to make without adding any sort of personality or flavor, so often it’s just boring death metal punctuated by slooooooow sections that ruin the flow.
@ThyCrossAwaits & Hawks: I already know Evoken is probably gonna end up on my year-end’s too 10! Band never fails to put out the heat. Listened to first single once and will refrain from listening to anything any further until the album comes out. I am BEYOND stoked.
finally got to balmora and holy shit is it brutal
never really heard a combo of brutal death riffs, metalcore vocals/gutair tone, and melodeath riffs in a single package. might be a 4.5
