Everything Else Sucks Now That...

Everything else sucks now that I started coming to this site for death metal recommendations. The title is pretty much clickbait and I'm specifically talking progressive metal. Even more specifically, I'm referring to Opeth and Ne Obliviscaris. There's plenty incredible bands that share SOME traits with these two (I know they aren't identical bands just listen) that I'll list below but none of them have quite the same emphasis on long epic journeys laden with cathartic heroic riffs and technical prowess, sections of sonic brutality with blistering drums and evil licks, and the ability to combine these elements for a deadly concoction of beautiful escape and intense apocalyptic sorrow. I could go on forever with flowery words but you get the point: nobody else accomplishes these emotions with their music like pre-Heritage Opeth and NeO. My challenge is for you to help me find even one more band that sufficiently scratches the itch. It's really subjective so if you feel my pursuit is in vain you might be right, but any who want to recommend me anything to try will be a hero in my book if they succeed. Lets go!
1Persefone
Aathma

Close but no cigar. Literally does everything I'm asking for but just doesn't do it well enough for me.
2Kardashev
Liminal Rite

Really close but even when the music is beautiful it stays pretty dark.
3Be'lakor
Vessels

Really close but pretty much "doomy Opeth with almost no clean vocals"
4Black Crown Initiate
The Wreckage of Stars

Saw these guys with NeO and I know their vocalist replaced Xenoyr but honestly I think this band is shit from a butt.
5Rivers of Nihil
Where Owls Know My Name

If Opeth was predictable and liked metalcore a bit too much. Not my thing.
6Insomnium
Shadows of the Dying Sun

Good stuff but doesn't snare me quite so much.
7Ihsahn
Arktis.

I haven't listened to his solo stuff since this album dropped so it figures I should try again but I remember this being a lot more "rock n roll" with prog and death rock elements? Tell me if i'm wrong but I don't remember it being what I'm looking for here.
8Dessiderium
Keys to the Palace

This absolutely fucks. Comment was for the previous album which also fucks but this feels just as refined. Funny enough the dude in this band and I affiliate with a lot of the same people in my city although he's in 3 great bands and probably isn't there much even if it's where he lives.
9Changeling (DEU)
Changeling

This wasn't recommended but was actually a Spotify recommendation shuffle that began playing directly after the aforementioned Dessiderium record. All written by one guy who was affiliated with my favorite Obscura album (Akroasis) and was involved in lawsuits regarding credits on that album! Pretty amazing stuff. I'm debating on getting back to reviewing here and these two would be on my list if I do.
10Abigail Williams
A Void Within Existence

Alright well I checked this out because their last album kinda scratched this itch, but this newer release didn't necessarily do that. I still really enjoyed it though, much darker and more hopeless offering than some of their other recent stuff. I'd like to see them on a tour with Skeletonwitch or Ulcerate now.
11Persefone
Core

While I'm sure this is great and loaded with awesome riffs I really adore quality production value with these types of records. I have a hard time with older Wood of Ypres for this reason because the older records of both these bands seem to sound lackluster in production value unfortunately.
