08.18.25 | Gonna watch Mad Men next finally. Been way overdue. |

08.18.25 | I’ve heard 10 is really good, all my chef friends tell me I need to watch it. I haven’t really watched a lot of TV in probably close to 10 years now barring sports and whatever I can get on YouTube. All my favorite shows are way outta date lol. |

08.18.25 | Roseanne |

08.18.25 | I thought the recent seasons of The Bear and Severance were massively disappointing...good shows before then though.
Only shows I've really liked this year have been 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' (Netflix), Foundation S3 (Apple) and White Lotus S3 (Sky) was still great too despite being considered weak by some.
Mobland (Paramount) was decent enough, better than expected for sure. |

08.18.25 | "I thought the recent seasons of The Bear and Severance were massively disappointing"
Funny, the last season of The bear is probably my favorite one or at least tied with the 2nd and the 2nd season on Severance is pretty much on par with the first imo |
DoofDoof
08.18.25 | Think they overdid the world building and mythology in Severance S2, lost a bit of what was enjoyable in S1.
Bear S3 I feel a lot was content light, leaning on the fact the fanbase are fully invested. Felt like an overstretched victory lap - should have wrapped it in two seasons…but all good if some fans are still loving it. |

08.18.25 | Season 3 was the weakest yes though I still enjoyed it. Season 4 picks right back up though |

08.18.25 | Ah maybe I haven't watched season 4, might explain things :D |

08.18.25 | The Wire, Deadwood, Succession, Breaking Bad and the Sopranos are all top 10 all time shows or near to that.
Go back in time to 2001 and ask me about South Park and that would also have made my top 10 back then. |
ReefaJones
08.18.25 | Definitely watch Succession if you haven't yet |
jrlikestodance
08.18.25 | Succession, Sopranos and South Park are among my favs too |
DoofDoof
08.18.25 | Reefa, I thought Succession and typed Severance forgive me, yeah that show is incredible.
A couple of shows that I guess are a bit frothy compared to those heavyweights that I still feel are right up there in pure entertainment terms are Justified and Billions (pre S6 anyway). |
ReefaJones
08.18.25 | Season 5 to Season 15 are South parks prime but there are still 1 or 2 great episodes per seson in the later ones. |
DoofDoof
08.18.25 | My problem with South Park is I think they sort of went almost 100% topical at some point, whereas early on it was a bit more character focused and more randomly silly.
Don't get me wrong, the topical current affairs political stuff has resulted in a load of great episodes, but it became a little formulaic and stretched, maybe predictable. Also they'll have a two or three part special based on an angle that's just not that fundamentally funny and that becomes a real hard sell.
I'll still watch it from time to time now though, will always be a massive show for me based on how much I used to love it. |

08.18.25 | Also watch Shogun if you haven't. I have yet to find a person who didn't like that one |
DoofDoof
08.18.25 | Shogun was immense, the only negatives I've read are some people didn't buy into the Blackthorne actor's performance. I didn't find it too jarring though I sort of can see why people might not have warmed to it. |
ReefaJones
08.18.25 | oh yeah I agree with most of what you are saying about South Park. Though 2001 is where South Park starts to become amazing. For you it sounds like the point where it started to get worse lol. The first 4 seasons are pretty dogshit tbh. Only later did we get the good shit like Awesome-O, Lord Of The Rings; Casa Bonita and so on |
ReefaJones
08.18.25 | The actor who played Blackthorne constantly reminded me of Tom Hardy lol I had to double chekc at first because I thought "naah Tom Hardy has to be way older at this point" |
DoofDoof
08.18.25 | Yeah, the first two seasons of SP are too dated....I'd say 2001 to maybe 2003/2004 they had the balance great. For example, the LOTR episode, Casa Bonita or Good Times with Weapons or whatever are still quite balanced and don't feel like 'our angle on the politics of the week' like some of the later stuff.
I don't think current SP is trash, just patchier. |

08.18.25 | hey hey let's go kingka suru |

08.18.25 | great list! 1 is 1, always |

08.18.25 | good stuff. if you haven't checked it already, give Dark a watch |
Zac124
08.18.25 | I really need to get round to watching Succession. Peep Show, which is also written by Jesse Armstrong, is probably my favourite tv show ever. |
budgie
08.18.25 | hbo rome is my #1 and probably will always be
midnight mass is my #2
of your list ive only seen breaking bad but i dont have a really high opinion of it i dont really get why its so often called the best show ever made. its a good tragedy for sure but eh

08.18.25 | BB is awesome the first time watching it but loses a lot of steam on rewatches |
Feather
08.19.25 | Dark and westworld had a great start and fell off cliffs.
Loved BB, and also loved better call Saul. Totally different shows but a really well done spinoff.
Lost is a favorite of all time for me even the final couple seasons even though similar to GOT they rushed it way too hard.
My wife casted the extras for the first season of the Bear. Have been a huge fan of every season. Literally the only show to ever make me feel real anxious though.
I’m still not totally sure if I like severance, but here I am still finishing the seasons so maybe I love it. Idk. |

08.19.25 | The Sopranos and The Leftovers are the pinnacle, Hannibal and Better Call Saul aren’t far behind. I think of The Wire the way you think of the Sopranos |
PunkerBlast
08.19.25 | I dunno. Seinfeld? I feel that show actually is rather timeless because it was filmed at the perfect time where, you would have to wait around to get a call because there were no cell phones (I knew a friend who had one in 2001 or so and that was so bizarre we camped out a lot with some people just because it was a lot of fun). Anyways. I also think Seinfeld probably only appeals to Americans who live on the East Coast sometimes.
Otherwise. I just liked sports :/ There my contribution. Breaking Bad is really good, but it's so heavy at times, that watching it once was enough and I am really sad at times now. Other than some definitive cool clips. I never want to sit and watch the series again. :/ |
EyesWideShut
08.19.25 | Actually just finished up a rewatch of The Wire and all these years later, still brilliant. S4 is still probably the best season i've seen in a TV show. Was thinking of finishing it up with The Corner miniseries..
Heard great things about Succession or finally jumping into Twin Peaks which im decades late on lol |
RVAHC13
08.19.25 | I tried so hard to get into Twin Peaks but eventually I just quit and never went back to it. Maybe I should give it a second chance |
PunkerBlast
08.19.25 | Damn good coffee in Twin Peaks too. LMAO. I just know it from a Simpsons parody mostly and almost finishing the Alan Wake remaster.
In the Simpsons clip someone was dancing with a unicorn iirc. |
EyesWideShut
08.19.25 | Shout out Mad Men, Louie, Rectify, and King of the Hill as some of my other favs |

08.19.25 | After watching Deadwood I started calling everyone "cocksucker" |

08.19.25 | "BB is awesome the first time watching it but loses a lot of steam on rewatches"
I never rewatch tv shows to be fair. Just watching a show once is a huge time commitment. Doing it twice or more? Nahh, I'd rather watch and discover something great that I haven't seen before |
DominionMM1
08.20.25 | that’s fair but I’ll say that there are some shows that get better with a rewatch. sopranos and arrested development being prime examples. |
