suppatime 07.11.25	^yeah i was gonna say awesome list but missing aesop, ugk, gang starr, digable planets, eric b and rakim, 2pac etc. 65 is a great record, good to see it get some shine. i've fallen off on listening to new rap the last few years but that one was a good one. 80s jungle brothers are good if you like a tribe called quest. no one can do it better by the d.o.c. is a great 80s record. 90s enta da stage by black moon is great. kool g rap pete rock and cl smooth 00s jurassic 5 cunninlynguists tech n9ne sean price the streets 10s dark time sunshine shabazz palaces isaiah rashad scHoolboy q the four owls curren$y big krit blkswn by smino is a classic in my eyes and nobody talks about it i can go on and on and on but ye lol
suppatime 07.11.25	oh shit and mick jenkins. besides billy woods he's probably my favorite rapper the last 5 or 6 years. i like cousin stizz a lot too but he's not for everybody.
Colliiiin 07.11.25	@suppatime Thanks for the recs, I've listened to a little over half of those. Forgot about that Black Moon album, it's v solid. I like Eric B and Rakim, Tupac, Digable Planets, etc but wouldn't say any are a personal fave.

I've always been attached to Rakim for whatever reason lol, I think I heard Know the Ledge at a young age and just always loved him. And 2pac can definitely be hit or miss but I love Me Against the World

Top 5-10 hip-hop ever for me and so underappreciated. Still only 20-something ratings here. Also if you haven't heard Mista Don't Play: Everythang's Workin' by Project Pat please get on it asap.

I know 4/5 of those artists, but pretty passively. That Atmosphere is v good, for sure. Imma def dive more into Aesop Rock since he was brought a few times in the comments.

Judging by all the abstract/conscious stuff on here, I can almost guarantee you would dig: Genelec & Memphis Reigns - Scorpion Circles I see you’ve gotten a lot of recs already, but pls don’t sleep on this one. It’s a true underground gem. I rec it to everyone cuz it’s that fucking amazing
PitchforkArms 07.15.25	For Aesop, my fav is The Impossible Kid, as well as Labor Days. TIK is more new and glossy feeling, with a bit more polish to the instrumentals as well as vocal production AND cadence, but Labor Days has a very raw and meticulous feel to it. Both are primo 10/10 gold stars.

That album def needs more recognition. @pitchforkarms I've listened to some Aesop in the past and some more recently. I respect his work. It hasn't quite clicked tho. I'll try a full album of one of those soon. @drifter Ye do it. That's a new favourite for me. Interesting record.
