Colliiiin
07.11.25 | @suppatime Thanks for the recs, I've listened to a little over half of those. Forgot about that Black Moon album, it's v solid. I like Eric B and Rakim, Tupac, Digable Planets, etc but wouldn't say any are a personal fave. |
suppatime
07.11.25 | No problem dude, any time. I prolly got some more weird modern stuff but I gotta think a bit. And yeah I feel that! I've always been attached to Rakim for whatever reason lol, I think I heard Know the Ledge at a young age and just always loved him. And 2pac can definitely be hit or miss but I love Me Against the World |
Hawks
07.11.25 | "@Hawks Ye it's on the list meng"
Figured I missed it lol. Have you ever heard any Dirty? If not, I highly recommend The Pimp & Da Gangsta. Top 5-10 hip-hop ever for me and so underappreciated. Still only 20-something ratings here. Also if you haven't heard Mista Don't Play: Everythang's Workin' by Project Pat please get on it asap. |
Emim
07.11.25 | Great variety here. I'm sure you've heard them but if not:
Cunninglynguists - A Piece of Strange
P.O.S - Never Better
Atmosphere - God Loves Ugly
The Dynospectrum - The Dynospectrum
Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass
|
Colliiiin
07.12.25 | @Hawks I think I randomly listened to some of that Dirty album on Spotify. Gonna have to revisit, same for Project Pat.
@Emim Thanks fpr the recs. I know 4/5 of those artists, but pretty passively. That Atmosphere is v good, for sure. Imma def dive more into Aesop Rock since he was brought a few times in the comments. |

Dedes
07.12.25 | Stoked to see O.G.C, maybe my fav of the more tranquil/smooth early 90s hip hop I've heard
If you want some MEGA jazzy stuff tho def check Typical Cats s/t |
Dedes

Alright see you next decade when you need more hip hop recs
@drifter I need more CYNE vibes damn you!! |
Colliiiin

Dedes
07.12.25 | I'll definitely make sure to check some of the stuff you dropped in time i.e Woodie and Snoop for sure but I definitely do want to spread even deeper into wholesome/jubilant rap territory
Edit-Im already gonna assume you've checked it BUT for a vaguely similar itch definitely check Death is Silent by Kno |
Drifter
07.12.25 | nah never heard it before. i’ll add it to my list! |
cylinder
07.12.25 | Tons of bangers here. We share a lot of favorites.
Judging by all the abstract/conscious stuff on here, I can almost guarantee you would dig: Genelec & Memphis Reigns - Scorpion Circles
I see you’ve gotten a lot of recs already, but pls don’t sleep on this one. It’s a true underground gem. I rec it to everyone cuz it’s that fucking amazing |
PitchforkArms
07.15.25 | For Aesop, my fav is The Impossible Kid, as well as Labor Days. TIK is more new and glossy feeling, with a bit more polish to the instrumentals as well as vocal production AND cadence, but Labor Days has a very raw and meticulous feel to it. Both are primo 10/10 gold stars. |
botb
07.15.25 | Posting to check a couple of these I haven’t heard, great list |
Drifter
07.16.25 | i need to hit the ones from here i haven’t jammed desperately. i’ve never heard of Architechnology so im intrigued to hear that one |
Colliiiin
07.17.25 | @cylinder Scorpion Circles is incredible. V diverse record and the beats are insane. That album def needs more recognition.
@pitchforkarms I've listened to some Aesop in the past and some more recently. I respect his work. It hasn't quite clicked tho. I'll try a full album of one of those soon.
@drifter Ye do it. That's a new favourite for me. Interesting record.
