05.18.25 | i wish this were still the standard. i've worked with so many modern metal bands that actively hate this idea. they want to play everything tracked to a metronome and do 47 takes of everything. completely ruins the passion and flow of how rock/punk is supposed to sound.
Every Cannibal Corpse album up until Evisceration Plague was LIS apparently, though I think they would still layer tracks, like playing the solos individually.

05.19.25 | Thanks ambrosial. It sounds pretty good for this slowcore guitar/keyboard track i did with my friend but yeah I guess that style of music is basically tailored for it and the echoey distant vibe wouldn’t work with more intricate stuff.
Isn’t there an issue of each of the individual mics picking up the other tracks for “live” studio recording? |

05.19.25 | i've heard ok computer was recorded live with the amps seperated/micced into different rooms and that they spent like a year doing each song over and over to get the perfect take, but considering the random electronic stuff sprinkled in i'd assume there was some punch-ins or the insturments were di-d and effects work was done later.
