05.13.25 | I’m sputs resident “hey I haven’t been around in awhile”(for 12 years) guy. Also, hard agree, and this list is a bit of a lie, because I’ve been jamming to the first 4 or 5 tracks. |

05.13.25 | Good on you for embracing the unknown when defaulting to sadness, fear, comfort and routine would be the common path. I hope your travels continue to show you how much more you're capable of and how much more life you have yet to embrace and live. Safe travels |

05.13.25 | nice, suzhou is top of my to-go list in china - was sad not to make it out there on my last trip, seems like their perfect version of a small heritage city. china is anti-comfort zone as all fuck on first encounter, so glad to see that seems to have worked its magic on you (and that your colleagues have shown you the ropes) |

05.14.25 | I guess China is Somewhere South of Here, if you are in Mongolia.
Glad things are picking up for you, sounds like you have lots of material for your new album.
Enjoy experiencing a different culture without the shackles.

05.14.25 | @johnny, Suzhou is quite nice. Has a strange disparity between how big and aesthetically loud the architecture is and then how cozy and quiet the vibe is.
@sloth, brother.... a few HAPPY SONGS??????????? What is this????????
Everyone else - thank ya, friendos.
Going well enough now that I'm likely moving my flight back by a day or two to keep spending some time with someone. Pretty wild - genuinely an unimaginable circumstance given the state I came here in as well as any reasonable expectation even if I had arrived a little more whole. |

05.14.25 | Lol, yeah happy songs are good too, the journey is the material.
Just like the culmination of The Smith Street Band's album Throw Me In The River.
"And I love life so fucking much right now, I have to pinch myself
I can't quite believe how far I've been dragged up from the depths of hell
And this time last year I was miserable and I lost a lot of friends
Fuck 'em, I don't need people who live to drag down and depend" |

05.14.25 | The Smithies have been a staple on this little journey, including that one!!!! |

05.15.25 | I was an ESL teacher in two cities in China for a total of almost 11 years. This first city was quite pleasant except for the insane level of air pollution. The second city was wonderful -> really nice & friendly people, great food, beautiful landscape outside the city, quite nice weather. Listened to quite a wide variety of music while bike riding all through the city and around it far out into the countryside. |

05.15.25 | I've meet a whole bunch of ESL teachers at a few notorious expat bars. One absolute LAD was wearing a "Ni Hao Fine Shyt" t-shirt, alongside his Chinese girlfriend - had me rolling |

05.15.25 | This is the greatest sitcom pilot pitch I've ever read. Keep up the good work brother |

05.15.25 | It's good you're meeting people in a new place, even if it's transient. All things are... |

05.15.25 | Crazy what some good traveling can do. Had a similar experience in London a few years back where I had just gotten dumped and went on a work trip. Spent the first few days a bit down in the dumps until I met an amazing girl who made me feel like the king of the world and starting having fun with colleagues. Just enjoy the time and don’t get too attached to the new special someone |
PitchforkArms
05.15.25 | All things are transient, yes, they all just have a different time horizon. The realization of that is making things more and more clear to me.
Crazy how similar the situation is. I'm it was good for you as I'm glad this has been good for myself. Too attached??? Who would do that???? Me???????????????? (yeah, probably me... I'm a little puppy dog who is usually bursting at the seams with affection to give but have been saddled by life and it's many woes for some years). We'll see how it goes, I don't know what it is, what it means, or what the future is, but in the moment(s), I enjoy it and it provides great value. |
