BallsToTheWall
02.20.25 | Not a definitive list but a good blend of dark and upbeat and catchy but not lacking the doom
And gloom. |
gabba
02.20.25 | Awesome! I’ve only heard 1 and 6, really digging the latter, will check the rest. Do you know Ductape or Void Palace? Both rule imo. |
BallsToTheWall
02.20.25 | I have not but gonna find their stuff to sample now man. |
BallsToTheWall
02.20.25 | Inside from VP is killer and Veil of Lies from Ductape is giving me goosebumps. Great Reccs man. |
CugnoBrasso
02.20.25 | I've played in a darkwave project for a short time but I fail to see what's so fascinating about it.
Also, that project was not functional so my judgement might be biased. |
BallsToTheWall
02.20.25 | Beats me, it all started with Tropic of Cancer. Gloomy ass synths and apathetic vocals, it just hit immediately. Zombie music man. I’m
Here for it, always have, always will. |
foxblood
02.20.25 | damn 2 is sick so far |
gabba
02.20.25 | Glad you dig them, so looking forward to dive deep into this list!
Just checked 4 on sputnik, it has 3 ratings: 5, 3 and 1, quite a spread lol. |
BallsToTheWall
02.20.25 | Darkwave/deathrock/goth rock was never big on Sputnik at any point. Which is a shame. |
BallsToTheWall
02.20.25 | And 4 rules, check out Starving Beasts of Fate and Asphodel first. |
gabba
02.20.25 | Asphodel is amazing, starts very mellow but has a great trajectory. The upbeat part reminds me of Ladytron circa 604. |
BallsToTheWall
02.20.25 | Dope analysis Sir. |
Ladron93
02.21.25 | Pretty nice, Balls. 2 and 6 are the ones I love in your list. I'm glad there are some people who love listening to Darkwave.
I may give Pass/Ages, Pleasure Symbols and Rosegarden Funeral Party a listen later on.
There's a lot of darkwave albums I love, but if I have to suggest you for a darkwave album.
Either Hante - This Fog that Never Ends or Saigon Blue Rain - Oko. |
BallsToTheWall
02.21.25 | Hante rules. Have to check Saigon. |
