| Farmer's Top 25 Live Performances of 2024
I watched 106 live acts this year (and for once kept track of them lol) and because I can't decide on a Top 25 album list, here are my 25 favorite live shows performances this year. | | 26 | | HAMMERHEAD (DE) Nachdenken über Deutschland
First, shout out to some acts in german language, that probably no one here would care about and that's fine:
Hammerhead @ MS Stubnitz, Hamburg, 02.11
Pöbel MC @ Stadtfest Osnabrück, 16.05
Marsimoto @ Skater's Palace, Münster 04.12
grim104 @ Skater's Palace, Münster 19.01
also, shoutout to the bands Vitamin Dream and Tschaika 21/16 who don't have albums yet, so I can't really add them | | 25 | | Wand Vertigo
Die Trompete, Bochum 21.11
Cool psychedelic show to fly away to. | | 24 | | Ahab The Coral Tombs
Christuskirche, Bochum, 10.03
They played with Utha in a rather big church which harmonized very well with their massive walls of sound. (Not the case for Ultha though unfortunately) | | 23 | | Oakfarm Oakfarm
Rare Guitar, Münster, 06.04
This is 2/3 of the now inactive band Bone Man (if anyone remembers them, they SLAPPED) and they caried the torch, but with a way more bluesy approach, which I'm all down for. | | 22 | | Bees Made Honey In the Vein Tree Aion
Rare Guitar, Münster, 19.09
There was basically nobody at this show, a real shame, because the dudes know how to make dreamy doom metal at its best. | | 21 | | Humulus Flowers Of Death
Die Box, Telgte, 14.03
Some antiquarian set uppa stage in his furniture store and I watched two shows before it had to close down again due to fire regulations, the better one being italian stoner-trio Humulus, who brought some badass riffz to that furniture store. (you also could spend your entry fee on stuff in that store, which was a win-win) | | 20 | | Ozric Tentacles Lotus Unfolding
Forum, Bielefeld, 28.04
Finally got to see these guys live, they still got it. A lot of the time when I see older bands play, I want to skip the often less interesting new stuff and get straight to the goodies. But their last album Lotus Unfolding is such slapper, that every track they played from it, was fire live. And the old ones also of course. | | 19 | | Wormrot Hiss
Pitfest, Emmen, 06.07
Not as great as the first time I saw them, but they anyway kicked so much arse, it's incredible. | | 18 | | MAQUINA. PRATA
Die Börse, Wuppertal, 21.12
Final concert of the year where friends dragged me to and I'm glad they did. This portugese trio plays such a psyched-out, distorted, high energy kraut-techno, it's crazy. Most danceable band on this list, I was shocked I had to add them to sput, check them out. | | 17 | | clipping. Visions of Bodies Being Burned
Club Volta, Cologne, 22.04
They played on a Monday in a venue that mostly plays rock, so this was the most mixed and nerdy crowd of the year. Daveed Diggs is one of the most talented MCs I've seen. The only thing that keeps this from further up the list, is that they didn't even play for an hour. | | 16 | | The Bevis Frond Little Eden
Musiktheater Piano, Dortmund, 20.04
Final tour for these legendary psychedelic rockers and they did great. Very emotional set. Also, the oldest crowd of the year lol. | | 15 | | Ratos de Porao Necropolítica
Pitfest, Emmen, 06.07
Never heard of them, but hell yeah what an energetic show! | | 14 | | Full Earth Cloud Sculptors
Rare Guitar, Münster, 18.04
This is Kanaan + two synth and key players. They played their debut album from front to back, which by the way is a big fucking album sput is sleeping on, one of my favorites this year: it takes the stoner sound from Kanaan and puts it in a progressive spin with Terry Riley Loops and a lot more to love. Check it out! | | 13 | | The Tips ! Eat Plastic
Rare Guitar, Münster, 28.09
This is an all-time favorite live act, as it is the 10th time seeing them. New songs worked great live, old songs slapped as always. If you're in any way into Ska/Reggae/Punk this band is worth a shot. | | 12 | | Truckfighters V
Forum, Bielefeld, 21.02
They basically played the same show as 2019 when I last saw them, but that's not big of a deal, because thar show fucking slaps hard. Some fuzzed-out maniacs on stage. Also: new album when | | 11 | | Ruff Majik Elektrik Ram
Rare Guitar, Münster, 07.06
This concert was on my birthday and I'm glad it was. These dudes have so much fun playing their shit and go into the crowd and out again, thanks to them for a great birthday party. They were also very nice after the show. | | 10 | | Astral Kompakt Goldader
Druckluft, Oberhausen, 20.12
I saw these 3 dudes earlier this year and I liked it, but they really convinced me a couple of days ago. The guitarist is an absolute monster (and a very nice person) and the band grooves and riffs like hell. One to look out for. Also, if you're in any way into stoner rock, check out their new album! | | 9 | | Altin Gun Aşk
Carlswerk, Cologne, 14.04
This was the last tour with singer Merve Dasdemir, so I had to go see them for the first time. And what can I say what a party, this took place in Köln-Mühlheim which has a big turkish community, so half of the crowd was turkish and every one of them could sing along and they really made this concert special. Big ups to my turkish boys and girls who know how to party!
Also, the synth sounds oh baby! Doktor Civanim is still stuck in my head. | | 8 | | Slift Ilion
Club Volta, Cologne, 20.03
Slift released one of my favorite albums of the year, so it's no wonder they end up on here. Most hypnotic show of 2024, the visuals they bring to their music are absolutely sick and you leave this planet watching them. Space is the place. | | 7 | | Seedy Jeezus Polaris Oblique
Rare Guitar, Münster, 26.10
Hands down, top 10 guitarists I've seen. One of my favorite concerts last year, one of my favorite concerts this year. Psychedelic Freak-out at its finest. It doesn't even come close on record compared to what they're capable of live. | | 6 | | Slomosa Tundra Rock
Forum, Bielefeld, 04.10
They're the hot shit in the stoner scene right now and for a good reason. They riff, they party, they're catchy as fuck and they got my aging ass moshing again. They completely put their co-headliner Greenleaf to shame and blew up this sold-out place. The new album slaps as hard as the first one, check it out! | | 5 | | U.K. Subs Reverse Engineering
Sputnikhalle, Münster, 28.05 (Charlie's birthday bash)
I'm honest: I only know a handful of songs of this legendary punk act, and I don't have the urge to explore the discography. BUT, every time they come to my hometown, I watch them, because they FUCK live. Seriously it's incredible how much energy these old dudes have in them. This concert was on Charlie Harpers 80th (!!!) birthday and he drank 3 beers on stage and the killed it for 90 minutes straight, my stamina couldn't even make the moshpit for this whole time. Absolute fucking legends. | | 4 | | Glasgow Coma Scale Sirens
atMOERShere festival, Bollwerk107, Moers, 25.05
This band is a well-oiled machine, you will hear 0 errors during their set, they are so tight it's astonishing. Sonically it's the perfect blend between post rock and stoner rock which maybe only Toundra can match. They also made me learn about the Glasgow Coma Scale which is nice, I guess | | 3 | | Eyehategod A History Of Nomadic Behavior
Pitcher, Düsseldorf, 09.05.
I was skeptical about this show at first, because I didn't like the last album, but all of my apprehension was blown away by the first song. HATE. I truly believe they hate us all, this was the most punishing experience of sludge metal I've experienced. They played in a 100 people location and turned it tp so incredible loud that you seriously couldn't stay there without ear protection. The guitar sound was so nasty, the bass drum so gut-wrenching, the bass so thick and the snare wanted to hurt you. 10/10 would hate again | | 2 | | Amenra De Doorn
Pitfest, Emmen, 06.07
Going from hate to despair. There are few words that can describe an Amenra show, and I won't even try. One of the greatest live bands out there. Go see them. | | 1 | | Dirty Sound Magnet DSM III
Rare Guitar, Münster, 02.02
They are the pinnacle of live rock music I'm not even kidding. If they played in the 70s you would know them, trust me. These three fine blokes practice at least one hour every day. For the last 16 years. They played for two and a half hours, and they didn't want to stop and nobody wanted them to stop even though they had two supporting bands. They played their hearts out, sweat was pouring from everywhere, everyone had neck pain at some point, but here comes the next riff, the next guitar solo, the next groove, the next beautiful quiet part, the next pace change. Dynamic, tight as fuck, amazing stage presence, mastered those instruments, epic, emotional, just incredible. | |

12.26.24 | really wish I caught that Eyehategod show in Boston but my buddy couldn’t be convinced they weren’t all crusty to the point of immobility. Great list | farmerobama
