brainmelter 12.26.24	yea it was was cool, some of those shots were chefs kiss. I dig it more than the northmane I think. It’s very occult-ish and it gave me a similar feeling to the Vvitch in the way where you feel like you’re watching something you’re not supposed to be. the sound was amazing, the two main characters were ehh. Fredrick and orlok were my favorites

BallsToTheWall 12.26.24	The Northman to me Just seemed like a choppy, condensed version of Vikings with no depth but that’s just me. Lilly Depp absolutely owned this movie but everyone was great, especially Aaron.
BallsToTheWall 12.26.24	Also Willem Dafoe gave me Boondock Saints vibes but more whimsical with his performance.
Hyperion1001 12.26.24	dafoe wasnt as stand out to me solely because i just expect greatness from him so i wasnt surprised that he absolutely killed it. i love how playful he made the character while not letting the eccentric nature completely take over.
BallsToTheWall 12.26.24	I completely agree Hype and am actually quite relived that he wasn’t killed off.
Hawks 12.26.24	The Northman definitely grew on me. Didn't enjoy it all that much at first.
gabba 12.26.24	I’ve seen Haxan recently, amazing movie, couldn’t believe it’s > 100 years old. So hyped for Nosferatu, can’t wait until it’s coming my way!
TalonsOfFire 12.26.24	Northman was amazing, modern classic for me. The Witch is around the same level. Hoping this one lives up, looks incredible.

unclereich 12.27.24	Firmly below Northman for me after second viewing. Lighthouse still reigns supreme with the vvitch just behind it. Was a solid interpretation/spin on the og source material but eggers played it a bit too safe for me. I come to expect great cinematography and style from eggers but the story didn’t feel uniquely his own(I know hard to do since it’s a movie that’s been made to death)and lacked his usual subtext. Of the two nepo babies i surprisingly preferred Bill Skarsgård‘s performance- I normally can’t stand him or his face. Lily depp held her own but I wasn’t blown away by her or anything in this film. I’m disappointed albeit I likely expected too much.
unclereich 12.27.24	Almost forgot to add that I had to google whether aaron taylor johnson was British as his accent and acting were so bad it was distracting. Reminded me so much of Keanu’s infamous Dracula performance.
