08.09.24 | Do you have a Shudder account? I know they have a pretty good Giallo collection. I honestly find it hard to stay focused during the few films I have seen, even if they are gorgeously shot. |

08.09.24 | Demons 1 and 2 are 10/10 |

08.09.24 | Love to see this, great list. I think Stage Fright (or Deliria in Italian) is a pretty underseen 80s giallo gem I'd recommend. For more modern stuff, I think Berberian Sound Studio is a really cool "neo giallo" that does some interesting stuff. And Malignant starts off with some serious giallo vibes before it gets absolutely batshit insane in it's final act (in a good way imo). My personal favorite modern giallo film is Knife + Heart, but it's incredibly lurid and grimy, and if you're put off by scenes of gay sex (not like EXPLICIT but, y'know, it's in there) this one may not be for your despite how stylish it is (also features some incredibly wild kill scenes). Bonus recommendation would be "The Editor" from 2014, which pays loving homage to giallo films and features some grusome stuff, but within the trappings of a horror-comedy.
Sorry for the wall of text, just love this genre/vibe and I'm always eager to spread that love to others who are into this stuff |

08.09.24 | I really struggle with Fulci for some reason but I do need to check more from him. Always up for Argento though. One of the best horror directors. |

08.09.24 | Sorcerer OST is pretty nice. |

08.09.24 | I’d watch it, gay scenes didn’t bother me in Spartacus or Shame. |

08.09.24 | Also Malignant sounds dope af. |

08.09.24 | Malignant is awesome. It is so stupid but it knows it while also playing with its concept in really interesting ways. |

08.09.24 | Fulci giallo you ought to check out don't torture a duckling, lizard in a women's skin, and the psychic. If you want to just jump into his most fucked up one (which is more a slasher imo but has most giallo elements) watch the new york ripper.
For argento pretty much any of his 70s movies, deep red probably the most influential. Tenebrae rules too. After argento another big names Sergio Martino, start with torso than check out his other 70s gialli.
And for american ripoffs of giallo: brain DePalmas dressed to kill and friedkins cruising (both are problematic and dated[gay/trans tropes], but nail the giallo tone). Likewise Paul verohevens 'the 4th man' shares the similar blend of genre mixing, and is also fairly sleazy. But yeah honestly tubi has a really good selection, just throw a dart at any of those and you'll get something 'interesting.' |

08.10.24 | Tenebrae was the first one I got into, just finished Red Queen. Either rolling with Perfume of the lady in black, Torso, a blade in the dark, blood in black place, or shot night of glass dolls. |

08.10.24 | Opera is probably my favourite that I have seen from the Giallo genre, although the last 10 minutes of Phenomena is incredible. Shame the rest of the film is kinda crap. |

08.10.24 | "Sorcerer OST is pretty nice."
The movie is even better. That bridge scene is crazy tense, even by modern standards. RIP Friedkin. |

08.10.24 | I really need to get round to watching Sorcerer. |
