Lucius Trilogy

I bought the first Lucius game years ago, enjoyed the first couple of levels and never went back to it. I recently revisited it and loved its quirky gameplay -- think Hitman in severe shackles -- and aesthetics. After finishing it I purchased the second and third games and I'm now in love with this franchise. Make no mistake; while the first game is relatively sound mechanically and in presentation, the second and third games are trainwrecks. The controls in the second game are mind-bogglingly awful and the AI is so broken you can literally do whatever you want with zero consequences. And while I'm only a little way through the third game - despite the controls being much improved and simplified - the technical issues feel doubled down. Yet, these two games have managed to capture the level of awful that is lightning in a bottle. Like Deadly Premonition, functionality and polished graphics play second fiddle to the games' unique atmospheres, hilariously charming comedy, and weird storytelling, as well as the unique gameplay ideas and locations for each game. Each game is ambitious and distinct, with the third game being a sandbox very echoic of Deadly Premonition. I'm really surprised by these games and if you like good-bad games with loads of character, give them a go - they cost next to nothing these days. Plus, where else are you going to kill a man by firing a pressurised dildo up his arse?
