05.12.24 | Daron’s lead vocals can get kind of grating but I think he harmonizes with Serj beautifully. Second only to Jerry Cantrell and Layne Staley as far as mainstream rock and metal go.

05.12.24 | i lately shift between toxcity/self titled as my #1 but the other albums are solid. i think it's kind of a case where they more comfortable they got with songwriting/developing a formula : they got less spontaneous and more predictable[that scars on broadway album serving as kind of an endpoint in terms of their sonic progression.] somethings also just off about the mix on those last two albums, rick rubins usually great at drum sounds but for like 80% of the album only the cymbals are audible than they crank the bass drum/snare for like a single part of a song. they definitely softened a bit but there are some very catchy bits thrown into those two. |
