03.19.24 | I think a lot of things contributed to that. The Vietnam War went on until 1975. Also in the 70s, Hong Kong action flicks became increasingly popular. And in the late 70s-early 80s, there was the thought that Japan would overtake the US as the dominant super power in the world. As such, interest in the East was at an all time high during that time.
