Albums I Got For Christmas
This is in response to my other list. These are those same 9
albums ranked in order from my
favorite to least favorite. |
| 1 | | Dredg El Cielo
Absolutely breathtaking. This is the kind of ethereal music i've been looking for. Pretty much every
song
rules, especially the first few and last few. This is a potential 5/5 |
| 2 | | Deftones White Pony
This was better than I expected, and I already had high expectations for it. While there may be nothing
that is all that musically impressive here, the emotion conveyed by each song more than makes up with
it.
Knife Prty has given me chills each time i've listened to it so far. Brilliant 4.5/5 |
| 3 | | Mr. Bungle California
Grows on me with each listen. Haven't heard anything quite like this before (which I expected). Every
song
here is really good, and it's hard to put them in any order, though I'd have to say None of Them Knew
they Were Robots is probably my favorite, then Goodbye Sober Day of Ars Moriendi. 4.3/5 |
| 4 | | A Wilhelm Scream Ruiner
This was also better than I expected, but considering how much I loved Career Suicide I guess i'm not
all
that surprised. In some ways, I think this is actually more solid than Career Suicide, though I don't think
it
is quite as good. The King is Dead might be my favorite song of theirs. This will probably get more
plays
than any other album here considering its just fun as hell to listen to. 4.2/5 |
| 5 | | Radiohead Kid A
I was not entirely fond of this first listen, but it has grown on me heavily. The National Anthem, How to
Disappear Completely, and especially Motion Picture Soundtrack are some of Radiohead's best tracks.
As a
whole I prefer OK Computer but this has the potential to continue growing on me. 4.1/5 |
| 6 | | Kamelot Epica
I feel a little weird putting this album in the bottom half. Center of the Universe is probably my favorite
Kamelot track, but there are a few songs that I don't think are too great. Black Halo is definitely better,
but
this is still excellent. 4/5 |
| 7 | | Quicksand Slip
I have trouble distinguishing some of the songs from each other, but this is a blast to listen to.
Unfulfilled
and Dine ALone are my personal favorites. 3.8/5 |
| 8 | | Fear Before The Always Open Mouth
I thought I would like this a lot more, but for some reason I haven't been able to get into some of this.
Drowning the Old Hag, Taking Cassandra, and especially the four tracks from "As a Result of Signals
Being
Crossed" to "A Brief Tutorial in Bachnalia" are brilliant, but for the most part i'm not a huge fan of the
rest.
They're good tracks, just not really noteworthy imo. 3.7/5 |
| 9 | | At the Drive-In In / Casino / Out
The only album i'd really consider a disappointment that i got. Though I'm beginning to like it more
since
my first listen, it still massively disappointing considering how amazing Relationship of Command is. I
really
don't like the production, it makes the music seem kind of thin to me. Still, there are some great songs
present, like Napolean Solo and Hourglass. 3.3/5 |
