| You like noisy soundscapes and pretty landscapes?
... then you might like this ambient synth live session I recorded in the middle of beautiful and haunting czech woods in October. It's all improvised analogue synth loops, cassette tapes, noise machines, endless delays and many distorted drones. /// https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sqrr8q8T15Q&ab_channel=FurtherDown /// Anyways, the list is all the killer shows I saw this year that I can remember. Some inspiration can be traced in some cases for sure. Thanks! | 1 | | Supersilent 13
Saw them for the second time, in a beautifuly reconstructed old destroyed church with a glass roof in the middle of nowhere (Neratov, Czech Republic). The atmosphere of the place isn't that far from the landscape you can see in the video above. These folks played legitimately one of the best gigs I've ever seen. It felt like all of the notes they played weren't related with each other. The climaxes were out of this world and I thought the church is gonna fall. Basically, it was like the track 13.9 played for an hour straight. Devastating. | 2 | | Bell Witch Future's Shadow I: The Clandestine Gate
Saw them stoned at 1 AM at a big metal festival. Amazing experience. I vibed with every drum kick. | 3 | | Kayo Dot Choirs of the Eye
Luckily, I went to the Choirs anniversary gig without knowing the record (and the band) very well, and I was floored. | 4 | | Swans The Beggar
Michael Gira was kinda pissed of but it was still a massive experience. Maybe even the loudest Swans gig I saw from the total of 4, which is kinda funny when the last two records were meant to go a little quiet. Gira's acoustic guitar was brutal. | 5 | | The Necks Travel
Spectacular concert. Amazing band. No words needed, who saw them, knows. | 6 | | Xiu Xiu Plays the Music of "Twin Peaks"
Same festival as Supersilent, same intensity but completely different. I don't remember feeling this close to the band during a concert. The energy they were sending to the crowd was unbelieveable, very scary and very beautiful. When they played "Falling" at the end, it brought me to tears. | 7 | | Tim Hecker Konoyo
I also saw Tim for the first time this Spring and it's very relevant to the topic since he's one of my biggest inspirations. The gig was perfect too. | 8 | | Further Down The Zone Tapes
Yeah it was a great year for gigs.
My project also has a sputnik profile if you liked what you heard/saw.

12.21.23 | oh nice i remember enjoying zone tapes so i'll give it a look in the soon! | FurtherDown
12.22.23 | That's great! Yeah zone tapes are kind of my first "proper" ambient project. Sice then, I also made it into a live setup, and this video is one of the results. Several last minutes of the set are kind of a throwback to the zone tapes btw, with a tape loop from Tarkovsky's Stalker. Thanks for listening anyways! |
