That said, Jason Aldean is one of the worst of the worst of radio country artists, and there's a very low bar to clear in that genre. I do find it funny that he's trying to play dumb and act like the song wasn't meant to be controversial - when it's obvious the whole intent was to start a culture war to draw attention and bring in some extra dollars. Feel kinda bad even wasting time thinking about it/discussing it, because we're only proving why unscrupulous people like Aldean pull stunts like this.

outliers 07.28.23	i went to college in macon and grew up 30 min outside of it. not only is macon not a small town, it's a city with a high violent crime rate. the population of bottom half of the city is predominantly black with a good chunk of them living below the poverty line. literally everything in the first verse of Try that In a Small Town with the exception of the flag stomping are fairly common occurrences.
