Demon of the Fall 07.14.23	I don’t follow tennis as closely as I once did, who’s the likeliest rival to Alcaraz once Djokovic retires or his powers wane? I hope we don’t have an era where one player dominates (like Djokovic himself once Roger / Rafa weren’t at their best I suppose).

SteakByrnes 07.14.23	My interest in tennis dropped pretty significantly once roger stopped playing as much and then when he retired, but then Rafa was doing well so that reignited the love. I really don't want djokovic to have the grand slam record but it feels like an inevitability at this point. I do like these young fellas, I hope they start doing better and better so it becomes their show

I feel for her because she seems likeable. I imagine it would mean a lot to a whole host of people had she won.

He defs got out played in the first three quarters of the third, but then he let Alcaraz have the set to regain strength. I figured he’d come back though it’s what he does, one of the best players under pressure

Jash 07.16.23	@demon those are the only people aside from Novak who can push him currently, and they are all going to grow exponentially over these early years in their professional career, just as Carlos went from 0-100 so fast, any of these other younger players can do the same in a season

Demon of the Fall 07.16.23	Alcaraz is special. To play like that against a champion who’s done it many times before… under such pressure, incredible. Yeah, I’m doubling down on no-one can stop Alcaraz moving forward, yes players develop at different rates but to be THIS good at 20 (and he’s barely played on grass) is impressive. The others are miles behind. The fact is that most of the top guys are seriously good by 20-21 and Alcaraz is already way ahead of the pack. I mean the easiest example is that Medvedev was seeded third and he was demolished in the semi, it wasn’t even a contest. These two are easily the best out there and once Djokovic retires, it might be one way traffic. Players emerge often, so let’s see if a hidden gem can challenge at some point.

Jash 07.17.23	Damn I didn’t realize people are still talking about the vaccine lol As a kid I remember hating Novak for his composure and on court freak outs, but when I started following the sport again right after he had time off for surgery I noticed his mentality had shifted a lot, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Carlos will be the next legend no doubt, and yeah none of the players I mentioned in that list above match him right now, but it’s not very often we can have an era like we did with Rafa/Roger/Novak/(Murray) coming up at the same time
