Death Ranked

Hold on to your butts Sputnik here's a new ranking list you've never ever seen before.
Scream Bloody Gore

Sure, this is a hugely influential album. But it's mainly just a solid chunk of proto-death thrash metal. There are lots better out there.
Spiritual Healing

Kind of reaching towards that more sophisticated proggy/tech feel, but mainly just good straightforward death metal.
The Sound of Perseverance

Has some cool parts, but gets too wanky and proggy at times. Shrieky vocals are best, though. Also I used to dig the Painkiller cover but you guys know that the guitar solo is also the song too, right? You can't just make a different one. Imagine if some cover of a song just had an entirely different riff.
Individual Thought Patterns

Everyone said this was Death at their most technical, which turned me off from checking this out for the longest time. For whatever reason I thought they were going to be soulless wanky stuff. But Necrophagist didn't exist yet to poison that well, so this is good stuff.

That fucking SNARE DRUM. Brings the riffs.

I mean, look, everyone knows this is a good album. I don't need to say anything more here.

I'm a simple man. Old Cynic is one of the best. So now you're giving me old Cynic, with Chuck and Steve as well? It's a death metal supergroup over here, and I'm all in.
