I'm usually familiar enough with them by the time I rate them, or at least I can recall how I felt and assign a rating based on that memory. If it's a one-and-done sort of deal, then it'll still come up on either 'recently played' on Spotify or on my Last.fm account. Since I've started using RYM I now catalogue everything beforehand, which is incredibly handy and means I won't forget to rate something. If I know I'll be giving something another spin soon, there doesn't seem much point in pulling the trigger straight away. I also think splurging a huge load of ratings at once is fun, so ultimately that's probably why I'm like this. Lol

robertsona 03.13.23	Of the Five Major GFs all five are in NYC (well, 3 is technically in the city directly to the north of the Bronx) #1 I’m gonna see on 3/31 for the Knicks-cavs game with some of my other high school friends and Jared, who will be meeting her for the first time. We dated for over four years. She is a fancy banker lady living with her old friend in a fancy part of Brooklyn and would probably not come up all the way to Upper Manhattan, though I wouldn’t say it’s out of the question. #2 i dated for a year and she is an absolute sweetheart but even less likely to leave her home. I don’t anticipate #2 at the castle, though she and #5 and I hung out at her (#2’s) place and drank beer. #5 has also met #1 and 3. #2 lives in a huge apartment alone in a less fancy part of Brooklyn. #3 is at the castle way too often for “having a boyfriend” because she’s one of the few people who lives closer to us in Upper Manhattan than to all the other young people in BK/queens. She would make an appearance first because she’s there all the time and second because she’s beautiful and funny and cute and I’d definitely try to maneuver her into whatever social situation. In addition, she has a taste for more obscure music than most of us which is cool and germane. She lives with her parents and Jake and Jared both love her #4 I don’t talk to anymore which confuses me a bit, though Jake and Jared have both met her. She lives in a less fancy part of Brooklyn as well. She will not be coming but I’m working on that #5, who is the guarantor for Cubist Castle, is sometimes there (for shame!), and you’d likely meet her, as Jake and Jared have many times. She lives alone in a fancy part of Manhattan and I’m fine with saying I’ll never make as much in my life as she does in 2023. Congrats! I think Pangea used her apartment’s bathroom I forget. #5 and 3 are great friends, and both people who changed my life irrevocably, and #3’s middle name is #5’s first name So minimum two. Trifolium 03.14.23	It always helps me to try and figure out (write down, Excel, paper, whatever works for you) which specific aspects of the job are causing stress. There probably (certainly!) are aspects of the job that do not provide stress/are a source for satisfaction/joy, it is good to think about those too. And then try and figure out ways to tackle these stressful aspects, make them workable (for me for instance: writing down all separate tasks I'm doing, and keeping track of them so as to not overwhelm me). However, I also find it's good to get the quick wins done as well. If there are predictable (like you know how much time they'll take) and achievable things clogging up your list of work, get them out of the way, so you can concentrate on things which need an unbroken passage of time to work on. Getting them done also makes you feel more confident and that things are happening. Set aside like the first or last two hours of the day to clear quick wins.

Sometimes there are opportunities to change your payment structure to make it into a monthly thing if it isn't already (as I imagine this is better for the majority). Mostly everything we pay is monthly by default, so I'm not sure how this has come about to be honest with you. What can be different is when you sign up to something the first bill can be an odd amount and not a 'straight month' until it realigns itself with your payment date / usage. It should work out after a couple of payments though. This can be the case for energy bills, phone contracts etc. Another weird one is when you pay 10 (more expensive) months instead of 12 (and get 2 x free), council tax is usually like that. weekly bills are unusual in my experience, but then I'm not sure what it is you're paying for

Demon of the Fall 03.21.23	This spiced Cascadian dark ale is part inspired by middle-eastern flavours to link to the protagonists in The Ceremony, Jack King’s new film, but also invokes winter ale flavours. Using a black IPA-inspired base, but with a pale ale strength, we spiced this beer at three stages with cinnamon, nutmeg, green cardamon and a hint of black pepper to bring those winter and exotic flavours to the fore. Hopped with some classic US varieties, Centennial, Simcoe and Mosaic, which work brilliantly in dark IPA styles, we also used a touch of Sabro to give this ale a slight undertone of coconut and sweetness. Wank. Quite nice though.

It's one solicitor in a law firm which tackles three different areas of law and underneath her are a bunch of people in their mid-20s who have just graduated, in their first law jobs, doing a lot of the work that solicitors would usually be doing. The turnover rate at this place confirmed to a normal trainee paralegal / legal assistant role is RIDICULOUS and I can see why. The expectation is that I can do a lot of solicitor-level work, talking to a lot of clients about a lot of heavy things (divorce / matters involving child custody / domestic violence) etc., which I am fine with - I find it fairly interesting. The issue is the real strong emphasis on billing - billing and getting money from the clients is the main priority - even if they're super poor, they have to fork it out because their LIVES are at stake. WHICH I HATE!!!!! The boss is now going on holiday for 2 weeks (the one solicitor) so I am having a bit of a crazy work load whilst still mostly finding my feet, albeit there hasn't been much time to find my feet as I'm going from application to application to application. I hope I articulated this well enough.

Nomos2 03.23.23	my mental health has taken a nosedive the past several months...my previously-dying but then revived-by-steroids dog ultimately developed diabetes. I had to prepare for that and buy special blood test tools and lancets and test strips and blood glucose readers. We bought needles and insulin and tried at 7am and 7pm each day to get him fed and given his shot. At first it was looking good and he was receptive to all the diabetes-friendly wet food, and for the first time in his life he ate on a schedule. He bounced right back, became the old Barney, stopped wetting the bed, let us actually sleep through the night without getting up with him every 90 minutes. It was all looking so good, even 2-3 weeks ago. But he just got pickier and pickier with food and stopped eating enthusiastically altogether. Within the span of a week he developed cataracts so bad that he was rendered blind. He stopped wagging his tail, wanting to play with toys, or give us smooches. He woke up blind one morning and took a bad fall down the whole flight of stairs. He's been shaken up since and confused, lost, and scared. I was crying every day. Then it seemed like his pancreatitis had returned and he was just a shell of my boy, my best friend for the past ten years. Tonight at 4:56pmMST our little boy's suffering ended. He imprinted on me ten years ago but especially since COVID since I was working from home. He was my shadow and never left my sight. My anxiety was in overdrive for many years always wondering where he was, if he was safe, if he was happy, if he was fed, needed to go outside to pee, etc. Hyper-vigilant, all the time. I loved that boy more than life itself but it has taken a huge mental and physical toll to love and worry that deeply, ceaselessly, for so many years. I'm just ugly-crying every few minutes but I'm curious to see how my brain rebounds without this burden constantly weighing on it. The whole house is full of reminders of him. He made so many people in both our families happy and he got spoiled by them all. He had an incredible life and was very loved. But man grief sucks. I've dealt with it before, losing people, but this time it feels different, almost like a physical pain. Ok sorry for ranting, typing that out was therapeutic.
