The social internet of the 90s and early 00s was relegated to smatterings of insular idea-or-hobby-centric communities that you subscribed too separately. Now everything's on a handful of social media websites and Reddit. There's very few sites or forums from that era around anymore. I get nostalgic when I Google a very specific Excel VBA problem for work and end up on Excel forums chock-full of users with tens of thousands of posts since the early 00s. They still exist in certain pockets!
