Saw it in theatres last night. Curious if anybody else has checked it out and has any takes. (List is recent digs.)
|1||He Is Legend|
Skinamarink was solid, but definitely a bit overhyped for me.
Overall, I enjoyed it. Atmosphere was incredibly effective, some of the images were legitimately unsettling and chilling in a low-key way (well-matched to the lofi aesthetics), and the few times it did go the jump-scare route, they were well-executed to a one.
But I also feel like it could have easily been 20 minutes shorter, and that's being conservative.
It also might have been the rare horror movie that would actually benefit more from watching at home, as your house creaked and settled in the background, in the dark.
|5||An Abstract Illusion|
Put positively, it felt like watching someone's nightmare, a visual tone poem on abandonment, or like David Lynch had tried his hand at adapting House of Leaves.
Rouge Carpet Disaster
Put less so, it was kind of a slog. It's tough to ever label it "boring" outright, especially since I was on the edge of my seat, clenched with dread through most of the back-half.
But it's repetitive bordering on monotonous (by design, to be sure), and I think with a tighter edit and one or two more jolts, could've really been something transcendent, versus something it's easier to admire than, y'know, like.
We're Not Here To Be Loved
Early take, I'd give it a 3/5.
I loved it, it isn't for most people who want a traditional movie though. I would put it on par with blair witch as far as low budget innovative horror goes.
I loved it as well. Watched it at home, in the dark, a couple months ago and i think that atmosphere really did add to it.
i've seen the trailer and some still frames and the implications of it spook the shit out of me tbh. small children spooky house no no
I was able to see it in theaters which was amazing, when I watch it at home it'll have to be in the dark as well
Haven't been able to find a place to watch it yet but I'm extremely excited to check it out. This is the most hyped I've been for a horror flick in a very, very long time tbh
whoah this got a theatrical release? A friend of a friend shot this at his home here. I never gave it a shot because I thought it looked a bit monotonous and grating, but it sounds like it might be more up my alley than I thought
absolutely loved it. a movie in my opinion that is a must watch in theaters or with good audio. audio is just as terrifying as the video in my opinion
i can't imagine catching this at the theatres haha. watched it at home alone my power went out 3/4th of the way through, had to walk outside in the dark and reset the breakers, was absolutely pissing myself lmao
no doubt it's far from perfect, could be 20 minutes shorter for sure but it's still pretty good stuff
sleep paralysis: the movie
Really wish I was more computer savvy so I could find a way to safely watch this without worrying about catching viruses lol
combustion are you American? it's playing in a handful of theaters here
Combustion, i could give you a site to stream if you’d like. Unmarked envelope style
I would definitely take you up on that! Email is email@example.com if you wanna send it there!
Thanks in advance. I'm excited as hell lol
@YoYoMancuso: the only place I could find near me that was playing it only ran it for one night and it sadly landed on my nieces birthday party. I heard Shudder is getting it soon but I'm impatient when it comes to this one lol
Sent it, dawg! Thought I’d comment just in case i get filtered to the spam folder
Terrifier 2 definitely overhyped. Only thing cool about it was the practical gore fx.
Hell yeah thanks MoM! Got it!
