Year's End

As the year draws to a close, it's now time for me to start scrambling around the interweb to find albums that I've missed out on/forgotten to look into, not only for the purpose of finding some great music, but to get a more comprehensive view of how 2008 really was as far as great music. This is a list of the albums I've managed to get over the past week and a half, and it's sure to grow over the next couple of weeks we have left. Not to sure which of these will make my final year's end list but I have a pretty good feeling about some of them (one of them will probably go on my worst sadly). NOTE: most of these albums will be of the "underground" variety for the sole purpose that they are a bit of a pain to get when you don't have things like winRAR to open those types of files...ANOTHER NOTE: feel free to recommend some other albums from this year that I may have missed.
1Daitro / Sed Non Satiata
Split

I don't have much to say other than wow.
2Skepticism
Alloy

Normally funeral doom albums bore me to death (lol), but there's just something about this album, I can't really explain it, I just can't help but get drawn into it.
3Anathema
Hindsight

Don't really know what to say other than I liked almost everything about it.
4Grouper
Dragging a Dead Deer up a Hill

Same as 3.
5Thrice
The Alchemy Index Vols. III and IV...

I was a bit let down by Vols. I & II, and it made me a bit skeptical as to the quality of III & IV. The first few times through this disc for some reason, I just kept thinking disappointing things were around the corner in every song and it sort of ruined the experience. Thankfully, after a few more listens those feelings went away, and the album really is quite solid.
6Opeth
Watershed

At first, liked it. Then it grew off me. Then I liked it again, but not as much. Then I thought a few of the songs just sucked. Then I started liking those songs again...long story short after quite a rocky road, it's definitely one of the year's better metal releases.
7Past Lives
Strange Symmetry
8Adebisi Shank
This is the Album of a Band Called Adebisi Shank

From the few songs I've heard previously I knew I would like the album. Recently got the entire album, enjoyed it immensely.
9Young Widows
Old Wounds

Not to sure about this yet but I'm almost certain it will turn out to be a great album.
10Harvey Milk
Life... The Best Game In Town

This is the oddball of the list. I don't know why, I just don't like it. There's just something about it that makes me want to skip nearly every song.
