Plague Mass and The Litanies of Satan are essential listens; The Divine Punishment, The Singer, You Must Be Certain of the Devil, and the self-titled are also worth hearing. Johnny: Heh, fair. I liked black midi & Big Thief a lot. Admittedly Hellfire might be a bit too high, in retrospect. MarsKid: My favourite record of the decade so far. Gets better with every listen :)

Demon of the Fall 11.30.22	lots of great shit here, approve very much of Ashenspire #1, Rolo is there, and the fact YAYA made an appearance at all, let alone one this high! seems like a pretty versatile list too
MarsKid 11.30.22	In the land of disso, I don't think anyone is doing what Ashenspire are, and they're actually taking the genre in a bit of a different direction. Abrasive, but with a wrench thrown in with the sax + violin combo, then you add in black metal and a vocalist performing like he's in a hardcore band. Wonderfully effective mix.
Demon of the Fall 11.30.22	yeah, I'm all about Ashenspire! A very fresh take on a sub-genre / style that was threatening to become somewhat stale (for me, personally).

MarsKid 11.30.22	Oh not just for you, I've definitely seen the subgenre trend towards full-on Ulcerate worship and nothing else. Bands are gonna have to start stepping outside the box.
