10.27.22 | Why do people always have to look downstairs? |
Krpa
10.27.22 | It was mostly solid. Unpredictable direction, but wasn't totally sold on the villain. Thankfully it is pretty well made so it's a nice smooth watch anyway. Gave it a 7/10 too. |
theBoneyKing
10.27.22 | I watched it last night and really enjoyed it. It requires a decent amount of suspension of disbelief but it was well-paced, decently unpredictable, and has a very interesting subtext that was well-developed without totally beating the viewer over the head with it. I’d give it like an 8 myself, mostly brought down by that suspension of disbelief element as I was occasionally distracted trying to make sense of some bits of the “worldbuilding” that still didn’t make sense in the end. |

10.27.22 | An outrageous good time. Saw it twice in theaters and once at home, the only issue on repeat viewings is the beginning is a little slow but I always had a great time. Figure the tonal and perspective shifts will be hard for some to deal with but I thought it was phenomenal how it transitions so boldly from slow burn to deep terror to camp and it all worked. |

10.27.22 | Beginning is the best part imo but the whole film is great.
And honestly I don’t really need a movie to be too believable when it’s this entertaining. |
theBoneyKing
10.27.22 | Yeah it wasn’t that big of an issue, only that it distracted me enough at a few points to break the immersion a bit. |

10.27.22 | silly movie tbh |

10.27.22 | are we not going to talk about how the monster is basically the witch from Left 4 Dead? |

10.27.22 | From, like, a technical perspective or whatever it's fine, but the second the bottle came down to them I was like "are you fucking kidding". |

10.27.22 | They can do all the cheesy Christmas movies soon. |
Wildcardbitchesss
10.27.22 | Bill Skarsgard not being the villain kinda is the point tho? Like they really pulled a bait and switch by making Pennywise the trustworthy guy and the comedic actor the rapist |
Wildcardbitchesss
10.27.22 | Idk I enjoyed it a lot but people did kinda overhype it by being like “THIS IS THE CRAZIEST HORROR MOVIE EVER!!” when it really just has a couple of hard twists. |

10.27.22 | Barbarian fucking ruled. Long live Whitest Kids U Know |

10.27.22 | One of my favorite horror movies of the year. Very tense and unpredictable viewing experience, and so well made too. Wouldn't have guessed Zach from WKUK would be such a talented mystery/horror writer/director. I guess Bill Skarsgard was just some random poor sap who double booked with her cause the rental agency messed up? I kept thinking there'd be more to him but guess not. Also I know this is just a silly genre movie, but there is no way a human being would become anything like the mother without a supernatural element, thing looked and acted like the Blair Witch or a Silent Hill monster or something. |

10.27.22 | The creature reminded me a lot of patient zero from [rec] |
theBoneyKing
10.27.22 | Yeah Talons that was part of the suspension of disbelief thing I was referring to, she had superhuman strength too to be able to rip the guy’s skull open that easily. And of course to survive the fall and being crushed by the car. |
combustion07
10.28.22 | Excited to see this. Heard it's on HBO max and I think I'll renew my subscription to it this weekend |
combustion07
10.29.22 | Stoked for Pearl also. Just saw X a few weeks ago and really dug it. Going to see Terrifier 2 this weekend at the theater but might try to squeeze Pearl in this weekend also if I get the chance |
TalonsOfFire
10.30.22 | Pearl is my favorite horror of the year (unless The Northman counts). Mia Goth gives a fantastic performance and it's really well made. |
combustion07
10.30.22 | I really wish there was a way to watch it right now other than paying $20 for a digital copy. Never bought a digital movie before and I wanna see it bad but $20 for it seems steep unless it's a physical copy. Did it get like a select theater run or something? My theater never got it otherwise I'd check it there. |
MoM
10.30.22 | @combustion
If you don’t mind renting it, Vudu has it for $3.99 |
MoM
10.30.22 | Unless you’re talking Pearl, then yeah, $20 is rough |
combustion07
10.30.22 | Yeah I meant Pearl. I'm just getting hbomax back to check this one. Definitely seems worth it and I still had a handful of movies I was gonna check on HBO anyway |
combustion07
10.30.22 | Also if anyone has any good recs for documentaries and shows on HBO while I've got it toss them my way! Neglected TV in particular big time the past decade or so but I know there's gotta be some quality stuff there and I'm always down for a good documentary. Watched the one about the group of friends addicted to drugs and going around boosting from stores in the 90s and thought it was great. Think it was called Life of a Criminal or something like that. |
MoM
10.30.22 | For sure! Hope you enjoy! |

11.06.22 | Finally got to check this one out tonight and I loved it! Justin Long is awesome as usual and definitely didn't expect this one to go in the direction it did |
Thalassic
11.06.22 | Yeah Justin Long kills it in this movie. Come to think of it, I've never seen a movie with Justin Long in it where he didn't do well. He's basically always cast as "the goofy guy" but somehow he always makes the most out of it |
combustion07
11.06.22 | Agreed. Dude has had an amazing career imo |
botb
11.06.22 | Georgina Campbell completely stole the show for me on this, despite it being the wackiest story she made it all feel believable. |
Thalassic
11.06.22 | Georgina Campbell was great in this for sure |
BallsToTheWall
11.06.22 | Wanted to see this. |
botb
11.06.22 | @balls it’s on Hulu now! |
TalonsOfFire
11.06.22 | Justin Long hasn't been in many good movies imo, especially horror, but I guess he's still been good in them. Barbarian was great so maybe it's a sign he'll be in better stuff. |
