New Genre Names

Dude you know what I hate a lot? That people cannot come up with new genre names. The genre of "metalcore" especially is the worst victim of all of this; you could have, like, Botch being put next to Kill switch Engage and while sharing similar attributes, yes, they ARE NOT THE SAME THING. We didn't call nu metal "alternative metal" did we? They may be the same thing in terms of playing (the difference is in the tuning basically), but they are sure as hell not the same I'm terms of aesthetics and lyrics and stuff. So here's a list of Genre Names we need today instead of lumping everything into a singular box for no god damn reason. If you have any genre names, please feel free to contribute!
1Bring Me The Horizon
That's the Spirit

"SPIRITCORE"

This label is for metalcore or post-hardcore-esque acts which boast mainstream "pop"(ish) production and songwriting values. Usually this sound is very processed and filtered and uses electronics for atmospheric values to the music. This is not confusable with industrial rock/metal as this isn't like throwing in samples or having a Fear Factory-esque guitar tone; the tones in SPIRITCORE are distinctly based on that of post hardcore and metalcore. SPIRITCORE does however blend the lines with electronic rock tones, however.

The genre takes its name from, you guessed it, "That's The Spirit" by Bring Me The Horizon, who effectively created and popularised the genre with rock music after that album's success in 2015.

Examples: Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox
2Botch
We Are the Romans

"HEAVY METALCORE" (or "Hardcore Metalcore"/"Beatdown Metalcore")

Heavy Metalcore is/was the first type of "Metalcore" to exist. It takes its characteristics primarily from the East Coast hardcore scene of the 1990s and features broken chords and technical playing. The difference between this and "Melodic Metalcore", the better known/stereotyped version of 2000s/2010s "Metalcore", is that it is significantly less melodic or "commercial"/clean vocally than the aforementioned version. Heavy Metalcore can cross over with mathcore/math rock or hardcore punk. (Do not confuse melody and melodic)

Examples: Botch, Deadguy, Poison The Well (they are both), Converge, Cave In, Kiss It Goodbye etc
3Machine Gun Kelly
Tickets to My Downfall

"DEPREVO PUNK"

"Deprevo punk", a reference to "depressed/depreciate" and "reverb", is effectively the name I would give to the "2020s pop punk revival" as it is described. I find it hard that people compare MGK, jxdn, Miley Cyrus (yes) or Olivia Rodrigo to the 2000s pop punk scene, because they share little, if any, attributes with it. What these artists boast instead is a more mainstream polished version of the genre, complete with generally more poppy production and, notably, reverbed vocals and effects. The genre is also more lyrically downbeat compared to pop punk (AND IT SURE ISNT EMO. STOP MISUING THAT LABEL LMAO). It has elements of musical nostalgia but never is a true nostalgia trip. Notably less "aggressive" and pushy. Heavy with sarcasm and self depreciation

Examples: listed above.
4Trapt

"VICTIMCORE" (or "idiotcore" or "Headstrong" or "CTBcore" or "Takyoncore")

This is a genre designated for privelaged people who put on a victim complex and a hard edged "free speech" aesthetic (combined with possibly southern rock or heavy music) to make themselves look "hard" as fuck. And yet they are actually just bigots or assholes lmaoooooo

Examples: Trapt, Kid Rock, Aaron Lewis
