But honestly any political "quiz" that included the full level of nuance and analysis necessary to capture the entire picture would be impossibly complex and take days and thousands of questions to complete lol. Tests like these often reduce multifaceted issues into binary accept/reject impositions, which is obviously very reductive. All that said, my alignment was still relatively on-par with how I'd have self-identified. I thought I'd be more progressive on the social axis, honestly, and maybe slightly farther into the Libertarian side, but all in all it's a fair representation I suppose.

Leaning, but that's an admittedly arbitrary distinction on my part. If you truly feel it should be more Auth-Left, I can change it. But the classifications above are based solely on the test as written - your personal feeling and self-identification can (and in many cases will) obviously be different.

I've arbitrarily deemed Â±2.0 as the cut-off for centrism on a specific axis. No real justification for that number other than it "appears" right via the eyeball test.

There are two points of contention there: 1. Is Communism ideal? 2. Would Communism ever work in practice? I voted Yes, in the sense that it is a utopic wet dream that could never be implemented effectively, not with fucking humans anyway. But one could interpret the question as "No, I do not even think it's an 'ideal' economic system on paper" and would answer No/Disagree here. But then that might imply they're saying "no" to the "It could never work in practice" part. I'm fairly certain the second part of the question (whether it could ever "work") is the main point, but the question is definitely poorly worded.

Another obvious pitfall of these types of simplified questions. Again, this quiz was chosen mainly for its combination of (1) low number of questions and (2) "relatively" unbiased stance. But here are two others that I've found to be quite nice: https://politicaltests.github.io/12axes/instructions.html https://www.isidewith.com/ The first one doesn't use a compass but rather measures 12 different political spectrums and makes a judgment based on those. There are two versions - one with 60 questions and one with 288 questions. The one with more questions is obviously more comprehensive, and i noticed it contains some similar questions, but worded slightly differently, or to various levels of specificity, which I think helps a bit with consistency to some extent. The latter is more specifically US-based, so apologies to my global friends (of which there are many). But it has the benefit of being more contemporaneous and specific than the others, plus the questions have a wider range of potential answers and caveats.

The first two describe economic leaning (right or left wing) and authority leaning (authoritarian or libertarian). Those two are the x and y axes and are visualized by the dot on the chart, and described by a simple title. You would be Auth-Right for example based on -7.33 and 3. The third axis is social, either progressive or conservative. That is hard to visualize in 2d, it would essentially be the z-axis. So thatâ€™s the one we just describe with a number. Youâ€™d be 8.44, which is heavily socially progressive. (0 is an even split and negative numbers would be more conservative.)

Just for everyone's info, in case they didn't see my earlier mention(s) of it - my (admittedly arbitrary) cut-off for centrist/leaning is Â±2.0, so if any one of your values is within the range of -2 to +2, I considered it "centered". Again, no real basis for this exact range other than...well, it looks relatively centered, and theoretically represents less than 20% lean toward one side, which, in the grand scheme, is quite centrist.

My personal stance is that students should be able to exhibit freedom of religious expression as they deem fit, so long as it does not distract or disrupt other students. Wearing a burka in this case would be fine. For teachers, the public institution's leaders and authority figures, it's a thornier situation. Given that they represent the institution in part, they cannot be allowed to endorse a religion to the extent that it could be seen as proselytizing. Similar to the rule for students, it can also not be distracting, disruptive, or obtrusive to learning. In the precise case of a burka, I would say the clothing is both obtrusive and distracting and should not be allowed. Hijabs and shaylas are a different story. They're not covering the face, the mouth, the eyes. They would surely engender inquiries from younger students, but would not be impeding or counterproductive to the extent that full facial coverings would. Looking at it another way, I'd have no issue with a teacher wearing, say, a necklace with a cross, or the star of David. But those emblems on the walls of a classroom are a different story. And should the teacher come in wearing a shirt that says something like "Jesus Is Lord" or whatever, yeah that is problematic because it could be construed more as endorsement, however slight, rather than simple and unobtrusive personal expression. Just my personal thoughts, though. I know it's a touchy subject and there's never a "right" answer.

It merely indicates that while you have a few more authoritarian leanings (v. libertarian), you still represent more of a stable balance between the two that a true leaning toward one side. Again, that range (Â±2) is largely arbitrary and based only on my own scaffolding logic that more than a 20% lean should be needed to "pick" a side, so to speak.

So, brevity was a huge consideration here, and among the shorter tests in existence, Sapply is typically agreed upon by many to be one of the better ones - again, mostly as a litmus test for generalized leanings and not some hyper-accurate and intricate blueprint of one's entire political mindset.

But I think the amount of true centrists in the US who would legitimately consider voting either way is pathetically small (now so more than ever, honestly) and general voter apathy has been so strong for such a long time now that, again, if you couldn't be arsed to vote before this debate (or even the Biden debate), I doubt either instance would prompt action. Sure, a handful of people might. But thanks to America's abysmal two-party system, most people have their minds made up long before the candidates are even announced each term.
