Some Classic Post Hardcore
1Helmet
Meantime

Such a beautiful album. I overlooked it for years. In high school my friend burned me a mixed cd and Unsung was on it. I never liked it. Thirteen years later I’m banging my head against the mirror next to my shower, realizing for the first time what an amazing band this is. Meantime - what a gem. Page Hamilton’s solos are mesmerizing.
2Quicksand
Slip

As a devoted Tool head, I’ve been searching for a similar bands for years. I never found any, but Quicksand’s Slip came up many times. I gave is several listens over the years but was never hooked. Now, after realizing the beauty of Helmet, I’ve found my way in to Quicksand and Walter Shreifles’s genius. This band is amazing.
3Gorilla Biscuits
Start Today

Walter Shreifle’s first band. What else do you need? I haven’t heard it yet but I want to. That’s why it’s on the list.
4Unwound
Leaves Turn Inside You

Deep and intelligent. Such an emotional album. Such a powerful band.
5Slint
Spiderland

The atmosphere set by Spiderland is particularly beautiful. This album is my most nostalgic on this list, and maybe my favorite. I’ve cried multiple times listening to this masterpiece.
6Fugazi
In on the Kill Taker

Another album that is here because I need to listen to it. But it should be good.
7Comeback Kid
Wake the Dead

One of those albums that I never think of when searching for post hardcore to listen to. But when I stumble on it I put it on. Before I know it I’m at the end. It flies by. I’m not sure why. It’s not that amazing but I like what it does to me.
8At the Drive-In
Vaya

Can’t have a post hardcore list without ATDI. At the Drive In’s debut is also its most overlooked album (is it? It feels like it). It’s also epic.
