05.02.22 | What you're describing is basically my favorite subgenre of folk...
Essential Mountain Music:
Fleet Foxes (check Crack-Up)
Simon and Garfunkel (any of their stuff is gold)
The Antlers (anything aside from their debut is excellent)
Grizzly Bear (check Yellow House)
Lord Huron (check Long Lost)
Tigers on Trains (check Grandfather)
The Tallest Man on Earth (check The Wild Hunt)
Ben Howard (check Noonday Dream)
Daniel Rossen (check You Belong There)
Probably much more where that came from but I didn't want to inundate you with recs.

05.02.22 | @park wow that’s a lot of old school prog rock bands I’ve never heard of. Thanks. Probably gonna check out can - tago mago first.
@sowing that’s definitely more than what I expected thanks! I just checked out Crack -Up since I loved Helplessness Blues but kind of didn’t keep up with the band. Really , really amazing stuff. Perfect hiking music for sure. My high school teacher recc’d Simon and Garfunkel once a long time ago lol but I never really got into it. Times have changed though as do music tastes. |

05.02.22 | We have very different ideas of mountain music but that’s probably because I live in middle Appalachia.
Steve Earl- The Mountain is one of the greatest songs ever, but if you want some metal, Ursa did and amazing stoner/sludge cover of it
Trampled By Turtles is another amazing band I associate with the feel of the mountains |

05.02.22 | if you like upbeat indie folk stuff, definitely check out Lord Huron. would probably be the first thing I listen to in the mountains. a lot of their music is specifically about leaving your home behind and heading out into the wilderness and what not |
