04.30.22 | Going away this week, and I'm planning on listening to a lot of music. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
04.30.22 | Tbf you could write about 100% of this off |
JohnnyoftheWell
04.30.22 | Mmm I spent about 3 minutes trying to think of a "this needs [trash]" comment to add to this, but you probs do have the full roster covered here gj |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
04.30.22 | 😂ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ |
Divaman
04.30.22 | Probably the two people whose opinions mean the least to me on all of Sputnik. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
04.30.22 | Uh oh grandpa need new diap-diap 🥺 |
JohnnyoftheWell
04.30.22 | Babe you literally ragequit one of sput's most precious institutions over my opinions; imma take a hefty bet on that |
Divaman
04.30.22 | Potts, you and I haven't been on speaking terms since before there was a Covid because you're a trash person, so what are you even doing here? Johnny, with you it's nothing personal, but you know you blew any last bit of music credibility you had with me earlier this month. |
Divaman
04.30.22 | Dude, I quit SOTD last November because of some of the ridiculous takes, and only reluctantly let myself get drawn back. There's no point in staying somewhere where you just get aggravated. |
JohnnyoftheWell
04.30.22 | Okay I am saddened will you buy my childhood copies of Stadium Arcadium and All The Right Reasons before ~someone's mascara gets streaky? |
Divaman
04.30.22 | I've got Stadium Arcadium, but thanks for the offer. |
Storm In A Teacup
04.30.22 | Ah excellent. Diva burns Johnny and pots in a two-fer. This is legitimately the highlight of my day today lmao. Nice of it to arrive after all the shit. |
Storm In A Teacup
04.30.22 | Didn’t I win November? Lol |
zakalwe
04.30.22 | Looking forward to 21. |
parksungjoon
04.30.22 | dam diva u have failed as a consoomer gotta consoom harder bro |
Divaman
04.30.22 | Wasn't even looking to burn anyone, Stormy. I really just make these lists once in awhile so I can keep track of them myself.
Thanks zak. I wasn't even aware of 21 until Dewi's list this week.
If I consoom much harder it would kill me, park. I didn't even list the Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard because I knew I'd have that one rated by the end of last night. |
dedex
04.30.22 | 15 and 16 are cool - yay! 12 ain't interesting tbh, you can skip it and rather jam Ethereal Shroud - Trisagion if ya want good modern bm |
Divaman
04.30.22 | >Didn’t I win November? Lol
I don't know. I was gone by the end of the month. |
Batareziz
05.25.22 | All this commotion I see here, is this why you do not write on the site anymore? |
Divaman
05.25.22 | No, not really. I just kind of burned out on it. Maybe at some point, I'll get inspired again. |
neekafat
05.25.22 | You spent money on these? |
Batareziz
05.25.22 | Oh, I see. Well, I hope it happens eventually. On the other hand, 160-ish reviews is a commendable number :] |
Divaman
05.25.22 | Yes, neeka, I did.
I do quite a bit of writing/editing in my day job, Bat, and I also write a music blog. I suspect that has a lot to do with feeling burnt out with writing reviews right now. |
Divaman
05.25.22 | Btw, thanks for the kind words. |
Divaman
05.25.22 | Meantime, I'm only up to Colin Hay on this list, neeka, and I've got another list of 10 I've just been too lazy to post, including some Korean dream pop album that budgie bamboozled me into adding to my list before he left Sputnik again. |
Batareziz
05.26.22 | What music blog is that? |
Dewinged
05.26.22 | 3, 7, 15, 17 and 20 are great, pretty sure you'll have a good time with those Diva. |
Koris
05.26.22 | 15 is amazing for sure, definitely one of my favorites of the year so far
9 is great too, as long as you're not expecting it to sound like Rush because of Alex Lifeson's involvement |
twlight
05.26.22 | nice backlog, enjoy :) |

05.26.22 | Long Island Music Guy, Bat. I used to be very wrapped up in my local music, write for a bunch of the local entertainment papers, etc. These days, I don't do that anymore (and most of the ones I wrote for have bitten the dust). But I do maintain a blog that some of the musicians I used to know still follow. (Although lately, most of what I've written about has been either focused on the Sputnik prog contest or the music on the two recent cruises that I took.) |
Divaman
05.26.22 | I've given all of these a couple of listens, Koris, but I've only gotten as far as rating the one before Colin Hay.
Thanks Dewi and twilight. |
Batareziz
05.26.22 | Interesting, need to check your blog, however dusty it is. Keep enjoying the music! |
Batareziz
05.26.22 | Checked your blog, a very nice read. Too bad you are done with it, as I would love to see your 5-year project finished and the rest of the Top 25 bands reviewed. Also, on a side note, your cruise chronicles, while nicely written, is not the best staff on the site.
Hope you overcome whatever's bothering you. |
Divaman
05.26.22 | Think there's been a miscommunication here - I haven't given up on the blog. Just wrote that last entry the other day. I'll definitely be continuing the Top 25 Bands series. And when I go to shows, I'll review them. I just don't go to that many shows anymore. |
Jethro42
05.26.22 | I might try 1 and 17,
9 is great
Not a fan of Joe Satriani in general. |
Batareziz
05.26.22 | There's an entry in the blog on irritation or whatever that is (was?), and that made me think you are done with the blog. Okay, glad I'm wrong. |
Divaman
05.26.22 | I don't disagree about Satriani, Jethro. He's a super-talented guitarist, but I don't necessarily love instrumental guitar albums. I keep giving him a listen because I try to rate a certain percentage of Long Island/New York metropolitan albums every year.
Bat, you're right, there was a point where I was thinking of giving up the blog, and I wrote about it then. But whatever was going on for me at the time, it was a while back (and honestly, I'd have to go back and read my old entries to remember).
When I first started the blog, it was mostly full of live show reviews and album reviews. But as you can see from my list of album reviews on Sput, I haven't been very active in writing them over the last few years, and COVID really threw a monkey wrench into seeing live shows. I've gotten back to seeing live shows a little, but even now, I've only got tickets for two or three things upcoming this year. So sometimes I write about other things - the prog contest or SOTD on Sputnik, my cruises (especially because the March cruise was specifically a music cruise), etc., just to keep it going.
Weirdly enough, my readership numbers have shot way up over the last year or so, for no reason I can figure. |
Jethro42
05.26.22 | I'm surprised Joe Satriani is still making music. And I wasn't aware he was from your home town. |
Divaman
05.26.22 | Yep. He was born in Westbury, NY, part of Nassau County, Long Island. |
Divaman
07.03.22 | Hi Bat. If you're interested, the Fleetwood Mac on the blog is up. |
