| Metal Lords
I just watched Metal Lords, and I was surprised at how accurately it captures the experience of being a teenage metalhead. I was either of the two lead characters at some point or another when I was their age (though a lot more Kevin than Hunter), and I've known a few Hunters in my day as well. I was also impressed with the myriad little touches only an actual musician would be able to put across, like that first moment during band practice when all the elements are in place and everything starts to sound like an actual band. Not a perfect film by any means (stereotypes of how society perceives metal are at least two decades out of touch, including a Boomer dad, when somebody Hunter's age would have an X'er for a Dad, not to mention anybody who knows what the word 'incel' stands for would be far more accepting of metal and its culture, if not involved in it himself) and it does pull a few punches that should have landed in the name of political correctness, but overall, a really enjoyable watch. Leave your thoughts about this in the comments. List is the main songs from the soundtrack (not counting songs played by either of the two bands.) | 1 | | Judas Priest British Steel
Metal Gods / Grinder | 2 | | Judas Priest Painkiller
Painkiller | 3 | | Black Sabbath Paranoid
War Pigs | 4 | | Iron Maiden Piece of Mind
The Trooper | 5 | | Ozzy Osbourne Blizzard of Ozz
Dee | 6 | | Zeal and Ardor Wake of a Nation
Trust No One | 7 | | Guns N' Roses "The Spaghetti Incident?"
Since I Don't Have You | 8 | | Avenged Sevenfold Hail To The King
Hail to the King | 9 | | Metallica Kill 'Em All
Whiplash | 10 | | Pantera Far Beyond Driven

04.27.22 | I'll have to check this shit out. It's pretty much a rule that any movie that features Judas Priest songs I have to watch out of obligation of them being my favorite band. To be fair though, the movie itself has me intrigued enough to give it a watch anyway. |
