My Top 10 Of 2008
My top ten of 2008....here it goes |
| 1 | | Kings of Leon Only By the Night
The critics can take a jump. The public has spoken. A massive move forward for the brothers, and a massively interesting and listenable album. I know I will be listening to this for years. |
| 2 | | Black Milk Tronic
Quite simply the best Hip Hop Album this year. What a relief that new talent is still lighting it up in Hip Hop. Lets hope he gets the kudos he deserves. |
| 3 | | Girl Talk Feed The Animals
My God! What a rollercoaster ride through pop music over the last 40 years. Pete Townshend and UGK in the same 45 minute set? Fuck Yeah! |
| 4 | | Nas Untitled (Nigger)
After all these years Nas still knows how to spit rhymes like the best of them. I was also very impressed by the production qualities of the album, and area which can let Nas albums down from time to time. |
| 5 | | Lil Wayne Tha Carter III
If I only heard this once, I would never be rating it as one of my top 10's of the year. But this thing grows on you. Weezy has a way of getting into your head and setting up camp there for a long time. |
| 6 | | Glasvegas Glasvegas
A band with a huge sound with soaring, anthemic vocal and musical crescendos. Great stuff. Love the scottish accent too. |
| 7 | | Vampire Weekend Vampire Weekend
Unashamed Pop. But good pop. Interesting pop. Pop that is organic and not a noxious cocktail of market research, auto tune, and over exposure and hype. |
| 8 | | The Black Keys Attack & Release
The album was a revelation to me. I wondered why I hadn't heard of these guys before!! |
| 9 | | Hot Chip Made in The Dark
Another LCD Soundsystem type sounding group, but they pull it off well. Fun, grooving electronic sounds mixed with vocals and a alternative sensibility |
| 10 | | Metallica Death Magnetic |
