Heavy Shoegaze Grunge Emo Type JAMS

This list just kept getting longer, I rec all of these albums.
1Hum
Downward Is Heavenward

The GOAT of this style. Definitely a classic and v influential. Thicc tones and vibes.
2Shiner
Lula Divinia

Up there with Hum as one of the classic bands. Should get more recognition for sure.
3Failure
Wild Type Droid

The other GOAT of this style. Obv Fantastic Planet is the classic, but I personally feel their last two records are their best (along with FP).
4Cave In
Antenna

One of best bands ever. Fucked around with so many genres, only put this album because it fell more in line with the rest. Lots of anthems on this one tho.
5Starflyer 59
Gold

This band put out a few slept on classics. Who would've thought heavy Christian shoegaze would be so good?
Kinda like stoner MBV with thicc tones of Jesus.
6Greet Death
New Hell

One of the best modern bands in this area. Heavy, twangy and kind of emo. This album needs more love.
7Far
Water & Solutions

Another classic. Kind of similar to early Failure but with a bit of a post-hardcore edge. Big influence of Deftones.
8Hopesfall
Arbiter

One of the best comeback albums ever, straight up. Still has some heavy edge from their early days, but really leaning into the Hum influence.
9Sunny Day Real Estate
The Rising Tide

Best emo band ever puts out a more straight up rock/grunge influenced album and of course it slaps. Needs more love.
10The Smashing Pumpkins
Pisces Iscariot

Obv have to be on the list. This collection has some of their thickest and stoned tracks. Pretty much as good as their classic albums.
11The Life and Times
Suburban Hymns

Recently been digging more into their discog. Memorable, spacey and has some nice guitar tones.
12Cursetheknife
Thank You For Being Here

Excellent new band. Not overly original but so well executed and it has the vibe ya crave.
13Title Fight
Hyperview

Listened to these dudes a lot in high school, interesting to hear their influence really making its way around. Fave is Floral Green but this one gazes at shoes.
14Nothing
The Great Dismal

Prob one of the most popular bands messing around with this style rn. Need to dig into their stuff more. Dope how they play shows with a lot more extreme bands.
15Cloakroom
Time Well

Heavy Slowcore shoegaze jamz. One of my favourite/the best newer bands. Also kind of got some doomgaze vibes.
16Horse Jumper of Love
Horse Jumper of Love

Heavy and moving Slowcore jamz. One of my favourite/the best newer bands. Needs more recognition. Go listen to the track Sun Poisoning, so fkn good.
17Autolux
Future Perfect

Has one of the main guys from Failure. Slept on album. Heavy, catchy and energetic. Only recently heard this but it rips.
18Duster
Duster

Prob their heaviest (but not best) album. One of my all time favourite bands. Heavy slowcore masters. Cool to see they're starting to influence more bands.
1955 Deltic
You Could Own An American Home

Duster influenced atmospheric slowcore goodness. Not a v well known band, but this is an excellent album that more people should hear.
20Pallow
Blueprints for an Empty Vessel

More heavy slowcore goodness. Another fairly unknown band/album. Album is full of heavy tones, vibes and long track lengths.
21C-Clamp
Longer Waves

Super chill and mildly mathy, slept on album. Has similar vibes as Hum but much more calm (another great band) and focused on mood.
22Narrow Head
Satisfaction

One of the more popular bands of this style. Catchy songs with a heavy Pumpkins influence. I can only see them getting better.
23Swervedriver
Mezcal Head

Missed this band earlier in the list. One of the classic heavy shoegaze/alt rock bands. Most of their work is worth checking, this and Ejector Seat Reservation are prob my faves.
24Centaur
In Streams

Forgot to put this band by Hum, it shares a member. Excellent slower tempo, heavy shoegaze vibes throughout.
25Castor
Tracking Sounds Alone

Heavy emo vibes with a lil post-hardcore and shoegaze edge. Love this album every time I jam it, just easy to forget it exits, due to it being not very well known.
26Superheaven
Jar

Catchy anthemic thicc shoegaze/hard rock. Not mind-blowing but very replayable.
27True Widow
True Widow

Fkn modern classic, bluesy Heavy Doom/Shoegaze. First two albums are my fave but all their work is good. Ya'll should know them by now.
28Fleshwater
Demo

Has same members as Vein.fm. In this band they play energetic/heavy shoegaze, with emo and Deftones vibes. Really love this demo, easy to keep listening to. Look forward to whatever else they'll do.
29Slow Crush
Aurora

Excellent atmospheric heavy shoegaze with female vocals. Been stoked about this band recently, def need more recognition.
30honeymoon
From the Future

Just heard this, so don't have much to say. Has a v 90's vibe. Heavy indie emo shoegaze grunge type shit.
