twlight: Matrix Rebooted

TheAntichrist 01.02.22	the first one is the only one that left a lasting impression with me
ChrimzonCanine 01.02.22	I liked the first 1/3rd of this movie and found the whole meta-comedy direction and themes of creation bleeding into one’s own reality rather interesting, but the rest was predictably stale and bad.
DrGonzo1937 01.02.22	4th one is absolutely fucking terrible. It made me rewatch the first three over Xmas and I still appreciate 2 and 3 in spite of their flaws. 4 is just totally pointless. And yes, I get the meta message of the movie, but it doesn’t stop it from being a total trash fire

ChrimzonCanine 01.02.22	It’s a film that really didn’t need to exist, and you can tell that the director didn’t want to finish it in the first place. Considering how Revolutions wrapped up the trilogy to some decent extent
JeetJeet 01.02.22	It's a very flawed movie but I kinda liked it. Kinda thought it was trash too. Very mixed feelings about it all. All I know is that its better than Revolutions which was ass.
DrGonzo1937 01.02.22	how can anyone in their right mind say this one is unironically better than revolutions? It’s literally just a really crappy rehash of the first movie. Everything about it is just awful. There’s a couple of okay ideas in this that could have worked, but it’s so obvious this is self-sabotage that wastes everyone’s time. Say what you will about 2 and 3, but at least they try and do something different
MO 01.02.22	The first one was a flash in the pan idea fantastic idea and movie that tied everything up in a nice bow and left us on our way. Should've left it at that Studio saw dollar signs and milked the ip like a dirty whore, forcing wachowskis to shit out garbage sequels. once they realize it's not a moneymaker any more (this one lost boat loads), they will kick it to the side of the curb and find other old ips to plunder and ruin Typical pedowood studio nonsense
MillionDead 01.02.22	Yeah, the whole vibe is all the way off from the promotional footage. If it's on HBO Max I might start it. Know it's gonna suck ass tbh. First movie was so genius and I liked Reloaded enough too.
Veldin 01.02.22	First Matrix ripped off Grant Morrison’s magnum opus, “The Invisibles” without any credit. At least that one episode of Stranger Things had the decency to have characters names and references when it payed homage.

Idk how you watched 4 and thought it was a shitty rehash when it pretty much subverts that whole rehash trope. In fact the whole movie is pretty much a middle finger to people who wanted a rehash. Sure the execution of it is questionable, but its still sooooo much better than 3, which is so fucking dumb and is scene-by-scene inconsistent. And that huge chunk of Revolutions that has that Zion battle sequence is somehow extremely boring and feels weightless, and it takes up such a big portion of the movie.

The subversive meta elements aren’t clever though, they’re just annoying and pointless. The film is literally a waste of everyone’s time, besides those who go paid of course

Gyromania 01.03.22	Resurrections is easily the worst movie in the franchise by a landslide. Like Gonzo, I rewatched the originals over the holidays. The first is still far and away the best, reloaded is dumb fun, revelutions is not very good all around but has some redeeming qualities. Resurrections is just pure stupidity though. For the first half hour or so I thought the movie was going to be great. It had a really interesting setup and I thought maybe near the end of the movie Neo would rediscover himself and his power. But instead they let shit hit the fan way too early and the entire premise ended up being a dull ass retread of the first movie. The whole movie is basically nudging you saying "hey remember the first Matrix? That was awesome, right?" Also Smith was terrible and totally unconvincing and Neo and Trinity's love being the thing that keeps the Matrix together is the lamest shit I've ever seen.

Neo exits into the real world again, meets the crew, goes to Zion, prepares a rescue mission for Trinity (same shit as Morpheus). How tf is this not a rehash? It devolves into extremely generic, predictable fluff
DungeonBoy 01.04.22	I heard it was the most expensive movie of the four and thought most of the effects were pretty terrible. The action was not very exciting, the plot was interesting at first but then turned pretty boring and stale (for a matrix movie). The best part was the human cannonballs and the robot named Cebebe... Cebebe.
zaruyache 01.04.22	the original films had that nice lo-fi aesthetic and color palette, this looked like a goofy tv movie. I didn't hate it but it didn't have a whole lot to enjoy and it's kind of hard to excuse how boring the fight sequences were.

bloc 01.04.22	I went in with zero expectations, and actually enjoyed myself. At first I was like wtf is this but then I quickly changed my tune. It doesn't offer any new information to the series and raises more questions than it answers, but it's basically The Matrix For Millennials: A Love Story
bloc 01.04.22	And no doubt there's more movies to come out of this IP. I wouldn't be surprised if the next movie is an Agent Smith prequel kinda thing.

CygnusX1 01.04.22	FFS, clips of the first movie literally played during the 4th one. I was honestly shocked at how bad Resurrections was. The plot was so shit, pacing was terrible, every actor looked like they didn't want to be there at all. The action/shooting/fight scenes weren't even entertaining, just a snoozefest all around.
Wildcardbitchesss 01.04.22	Watched it again last night on HBO. It’s… okay. I liked it more on a second watch. Literally everything I didn’t like about it could’ve easily been forgiven if it had better action sequences. Everything feels so choppy sometimes I can barely tell what’s going on. I wouldn’t mind another sequel, but goddamn just make the gun fights and martial arts scenes more memorable.
