Where I live there is a raffle system in most shops, I failed 5 of them, so in the end I resulted to make a credit card of one of the shops that gives u access to actually buy one. OR, pay scalpers double the price but I swear to God I'd be buried with my ps4 before giving that scum a single cent from my pockets.

beefshoes 10.19.21	I'm kinda with you on Sekiro. I recently started it, I got through the first few areas, and while it's a great game so far, it doesn't have that Soulsborne magic. It comes down to being forced into a single play style with a more explicit approach to story telling that doesn't leave as much room for digging and interpretation. The prosthetic tools and the strategy behind the stealth mechanics help to give things a bit of variety, but everything boils down to becoming proficient at defecting and using the right counters, which are completely situational. I hope that Elden Ring uses the refinements in respect to sword play, and as long as it (or anything else) isn't completely imposed on you, I think that there's immense potential for this being the best Souls experience at least mechanically. For Sekiro's faults though, it still stands out because of how distinct it is. It's just not been very fun or rewarding for me so far, and I'm not sure if I'm motivated enough to finish it.

Elden Ring = I hope it's best everything but it has already won best horse for sure.

PortraitsOfDecay 10.20.21	Delays are a good thing in my book. Just look at how lost izalith turned out. I’m excited to hear that magic will have a greater emphasis in this game. DS2 remains the only game where I felt an advantage playing as a caster but that could be with how that game is structured to demand range over melee. There’s quite a good chance this will be praised as the best fromsoft title to date and it’s easy to see why
beefshoes 10.20.21	Yeah, Lost Izalith is a perfect example of why delays can be advantageous. That area and BoC both had a lot of potential, and I can't help but imagine what that area (and the whole second half of DS1) could have looked like if they had more time for development and polishing.

Agree Johnny, although part of me would also like to see the game with dem visuals. I wouldn't go as far as to say new assets would make the game perfect, but it would be interesting to see what From Soft would do with areas like Izalith or Ash Lake.

Definitely a nice tribute though

And that's only some examples. DS1 and DeS have a very alien feel to them that it's sorely missed. Bloodborne had a more serious, oppressive tone to it, i'm refering specially to DS3-- that one feels like something written for a Vaati video. No offense to the loremaster, I just want some of that quirky, nerdy feeling again.

I know what to put the stats in for this build I just still make a lot of stuff bleed like nothing. I miss thrust attacks though

beefshoes 10.21.21	I didn't like DS3 Demon Ruins at all apart from its aesthetic, but I really enjoyed Smoldering Lake and the worm encounter and how you can use the ballista to take him out if you're prudent enough. One of the things that I love about DS3 is the fact that basically every area has brutal optional challenges/mini-bosses that are usually the key to some awesome items, but they're almost universally optional, and you can easily run past all of them if you choose. It's crazy that Midr is technically optional, and I'd be curious to know the stats behind how many players actually trigger the battle, let alone beat him.

Demon of the Fall 10.26.21	It hadn't initially occurred to me that this was a From Soft game, so based on my fleeting experiences with DS games (mostly just Demon's Souls) that probably rules me out. The fact it's open world definitely has me interested, but guessing this isn't going to be the type of casual exploration I'm used to from Skyrim etc.

Anthracks 10.26.21	Not to be that guy but I found sword saint’s difficulty to be overrated. Apart from a few attacks you can just spam deflect and there’s nothing he can do. Second owl was a better test of reactions and skill, and demon of hatred was a better test of patience and endurance
quetzal 10.26.21	Sekiro last boss was the only one that I really found to be that tough. Nothing in Sekiro made me rage as much as Sir Alonne or Fume Knight though.
quetzal 10.26.21	One thing people should know about Sekiro is that 99% of the fights in that game can be beaten with ease by just spamming attack until you see an orange flash and then spamming deflect until it's time to spam attack again. If you spam deflect, you'll deflect most attacks. You don't really need to time it.

BaselineOOO 11.05.21	King's Field IV (and III - love and hate relationship, but mostly love) and Tenchu Fatal Shadows are two of my favorites games ever, but let's not stretch it too much and pretend that Dark Souls and Bloodborne are not a noticeable evolution compared to them. And I mean evolution in the truest sense, not as in them being just generational step-ups.
beefshoes 11.05.21	@quetzal Now that I've made some noticable progress in Sekiro (beat Genichiro, Lady Butterfly, Guardian Ape, and Folding Monkeys), I'm hooked. After you start overcoming its learning curve, the game is absolutely brilliant. The mini-bosses have consistently been some of the toughest fights I've ever faced, and the prosthetic tools give me enough customization options to compensate for the lack of RPG mechanics.
rabidfish 11.05.21	looks like BotW and DS combined. I'm not too keen on open world games, i prefer more linear games. Hope FS can deliver on this. As long as the boss fights are cool, the combat is tight and the drip is swag, i'm ready to give this another 10/10 lol

beefshoes 11.05.21	Breath of the Wild is a classic and was mindblowing on the initial playthrough, but it hasn't been a lot of fun to replay because of how tiring traversal can be (especially in the rain). There's also not a lot to stay busy with outside of the story, unless you enjoy stuff like the hunt for korok seeds. Ideally, it'd be great if Elden Ring strikes a balance between BotW's minimalism and the Ubisoft bloat, and from what is available to see so far, it looks extremely promising. Coop and PvP will add a ton of longevity, and like all of the souls games, it'll be fun to do repeated runs with different builds.

I'm also worried because if they don't balance it out properly it can become extremely OP for people who use it but it can also make deciding NOT to use it extremely hard. Cross my fingers it's not the case.
zaruyache 11.06.21	i looks like it might be balanced in some ways. one youtuber mentioned how that caveman gang summon start screaming after attacking, which aggros other enemies. So I'm guessing there's tradeoffs like that when needed, tho it's not like spells can't already do powerful stuff like that already.

quetzal 11.08.21	"BotW's minimalism and the Ubisoft bloat" this comment hits me different because I found BotW to be absolutely bloated to the gills with copy and paste repetitive content (e.g. shrines, korok puzzles, cut and paste enemy encounters to skip because of the dreadful weapon durability mechanic, etc.). god BotW let me down, like that game strikes you so hard at the beginning but by the end you're like "i really wish there was a lot more to this game." other Zelda games you're constantly finding out new mechanics and new puzzles and shit, BotW you've seen it all by like 2 hours and then it's just the same stuff with maybe a surprise here or there every 20 hours and then it's over. i want the next Zelda game to be a Zelda game, not a pale imitation of Skyrim with a Zelda coat of paint.

They're about as close to classic Zelda as the game gets, in spite of the fact that they all look exactly the same. Really hoping that BotW2 introduces more variety.

It might just be the hype and adrenaline speaking, but I swear, I think that it might be my favorite FS game thus far. It feels hilarious reflecting on how close I was to quiting just a few weeks ago as I was stuck on the Chained Ogre and Lady Butterfly, but once it clicked, I've been absolutely obsessed with it. Definitely going to platinum it before Elden Ring drops, and can't wait to do a boss ranking.

beefshoes 11.15.21	I've only got the DLCs left to tackle, but DS2 definitely has the best builds in the series. I love the story too, and the areas are generally superb. The combat and the boss variety are my only real complaints with it, so if Elden Ring can succeed in mixing the two with a splash of Sekiro mixed in, it's going to be the best game yet unquestionably.

beefshoes 11.30.21	@BaselineOOO I'm on a NG+ run, trying to decide whether or not I want to beat Aldrich and finish it because the PvP is super active atm. It's honestly my favorite in the series now in spite of the immense love and nostalgia for DS1 and BB. It feels so damn satisfying to play, and I can't stop gushing over how solid the bosses and areas are. If I were to rank them, DS3 and Sekiro would be at the top now for sure. Only 3 more months hopefully!
BaselineOOO 11.30.21	I am glad that you have arrived to the same conclusion as I have. DS3 is a technical tour de force combat-wise that is yet to be surpassed (both in PvE and PvP), it unfortunately makes DS 1 and 2 feel sooo dated. It's probably not as varied and balanced as DS2's PvP is, but it's definitely the most fun, immediate, and least exploitable.

Also confirms at least one more DS2 element they repurposed for this game lmao. Finally, Drangleic will see proper justice.
BaselineOOO 02.11.22	@zaruyache: Yes, from the footage and opinions we got so far the game seems much easier than other Souls games. I don't know about you, but I will definitely limit my level to 20-50ish just to maintain a higher difficulty throughout the game.
Devastator 02.11.22	People were saying that that Wolf Knight in the first gameplay trailer is the transformation in this game like the Dragon Form in DS and I can only imagine how fucking awesome that would be.
zaruyache 02.11.22	No I meant the concern that it'd be too easy, which he said at least in the early game was not really the case. The network test reorganized items and npcs to give players a lot of powerful toys early on that they wouldn't normally get, so in his opinion it was much more balanced when you had fewer resources in that starting section.
