Resident Jazz (Week 11)
1Jan Garbarek

Both of these are ECM label releases and they are the best from that catalogue. This is a European take on world music and international jazz going all the way from the Cuban Hasta Siempre to the Don Cherry inspired Desireless. This is without a doubt one of the best Jazz albums ever released in this style and is a must pick up for anyone who is a fan of Pharoah Sanders or anyone of his type. Just listen to Desireless for example. That song is one of the jazz greats. It pulsates and flows so beautifully with the leading of Jan Garbarek's sax and then it just expands from there into infinity. for Desireless
2Ralph Towner

Another ECM release that revolves around Ralph Towner's more melodic Derek Bailey-esque 12 string guitar playing. Featuring Jan Garbarek this is less of a world tour than the previous album but features a huge variety of playing. From the tropical Piscean Dance to the beautiful Eberhard Webern composed Sand this boasts a beautiful plurality of playing throughout and some of the interplay between guitar and sax I have ever heard. for Sand
