Music I just don't get

(Alternative clickbait title: most overrated bands eveeeeer). Now, first of all. To say that I don't "get" some artists seems to infer that connecting with an artist is done on an intellectual basis. That is, in my opinion, very much not the case. I enjoy music from an emotional, subconcious viewpoint. I despise the idea of explaining music as a way of making someone enjoy it. My youtube recommendations box has a video "Understanding Primus" and I want to punch the author of it in the face as much as I do those people who create 8-hour video essays on Twin Peaks. It is not difficult to "understand" music. Yes, this artist is influenced by this one, they are using building blocks common to this genre, they are unique because of this combination and so on. I feel this to be a detrimentally disconstructionist view of music. I feel, shocker as this statement may be, that music is at its core, subjective. That people, with all their previous experiences, with their carried prejudices, with their developed tastes, feel and experience music differently. To reduce all that, to erase the identity of the listener, by inferring that enjoyment of music is a "logical" process is, to me, insulting. This all is a long-winded way of saying: please don't explain to me how thse artists are actually really good because they use hyperdorian shitchords or whatever. Rather, tell me if these artists just don't click for you either. And maybe throw in some more for good measure. Those artists don't have to be "objectively" good nor do you even need to respect them as if you were an impartial jury. Just that you can't get a feel for them but a lot of other people seem to. I'll start off with some real popular ones. Also don't tell me an artist is good (lol that concept alone is pretty silly) because of how "influential" they were. I listen to enough Venom to realize how bullshit that argument is.
